I shoot a 700ML, just would like to know if anyone has any good bullet and powder recommendations. I shoot 300 grain shockwaves with 120 grains triple 7, groups ok, but would like a little better accuracy.

Re: Any 700ML users

I have one. I use a 300 Grain Hornady SST(same bullet as the shockwave) with 90 grains of loose triple 7 powder. Last weekend I went shooting for the first time since last fall, and my first group was a 2"er at 100 yards. Try some different amounts of powder with that bullet, and you may find something you like better. Also make sure it's actually the gun causing bad accuracy, it may be you. With that load, I know you're getting some pretty good kick out of the gun,I get more than I like with only 90 grains of powder. You may be flinching.

Re: Any 700ML users

I also have a Remington 700ML (stainless).

Mine seems to shoot best with 240 grain Hornady XTP using 2 50 grain pellets of Pyrodex.

I have killed a lot of deer with it, most being within 100 yards, but two deer I killed were at 173 yards.

It is a darn good rifle, but a little on the messy side to clean.

Mine came with the little #11 primers which I switched out to shoot 209's. I haven't had a misfire since I switched to 209's.

I just don't hunt with it much anymore now that I have the Savage 10MLII. Shooting smokeless has been a great benefit to me.

I would suggest you check your spent sabots and see if they are torn up. 120 grains sounds a little like too much powder to me. It don't take that much to get good velocity and knock-down power. On whitetails I think a 300 grain bullet is also a little too much.

Accuracy is more important that power.

Re: Any 700ML users

Thanks for the feedback, I was using 300 hornadys sst with 2 50grain pellets, just bumped up the powder this year to 120. Trying to getting more power and velocity out of the 300 grain bullet. Yes I did find out that I was jerking the trigger instead of squeezing it.

Re: Any 700ML users

Mine loves 3 pyrodex pellets (150 gr), a PR Bullets 235 gr QT40, and a CCI musket cap. This will shoot MOA from my 700 ML.

I have been thinking about making a vent liner breech plug for the Rem 700ML like the Savage uses. This will (should) dramatically reduce the blow back with this gun. Hopefully this fall I can get around to playing with the lathe.

Re: Any 700ML users

I've been shooting my Remmy 700ML for darn near 10yrs now. I've smacked alot of venison with it. I shoot a Hornady 240gr XTP inside a Harvestor ribbed sabot on top of 3 50gr Pyro pellets ignited by RWS musket caps.

Last spring I picked up a 700ML in 45 cal. I haven't spent too much range time with it yet.
