spectr17
San Bernardino NF in SoCal. Westy's secret spot. We hope to stick an arrow in one of them come September. Cam is Leaf River DC-1 2 bruisers came though this past weekend. This lil black is 250 maybe. This is the first bruiser. Wet after a rain it looks like. We're guessing 450 -500 pounds. This area is known for big bears. Joel Shows and his hounds helped get 2 650 pounders on the other side of this ridge back in the late 80s. I say this is a different bruiser, more cinnamon in color you think?

Guest Buck Magnet 007
Re: Bear game cam pics Nice pics, but I am pretty sure that those bears aren't gonna weigh as much as you think they will. I bet the bigger bears would go 350, maybe 400 tops. I have seen more bear around here than you can imagine and Pennsylvania produces some of the biggest bears around. We had one trapped in our back yard that looked just a little smaller than the ones you posted and it was weighed at 289#'s. My taxidermist has one mounted to weighed in at 515 pounds and we have pics of one at Buckslayer007's family farm that would have went WELL over the 500# mark, probablly closer to 600 if not a little more! spectr17
Re: Bear game cam pics Thanks Bond, finally getting some time to visit the boards again. Buck Magnet 007, we've taken some 450 pounders from this area and these 2 are much bigger bears judging from the height of them and their bellies. For reference that fallen tree just past the bears is 3 foot across. It's been my experience from bear hunting 26 years that when the bear's belly hangs down to the ground the bear is 400+. As you can clearly see the one bear's belly is almost on the ground and the other is close. I also have a buddy who does depredation trapping in this area and he's trapped some doozies near this area when they venture into town. There are also several 500 pounders and B&C bears taken in this area every year so the genes are there. The old WR B&C was from just down the road taken by Loren Nodolf. I think his bear is now #3. Skull score, not weight that you guys go by on the eastern side. We'll make sure and weigh them if we get lucky and stick one. As we all know it's tough to judge size from a pic since it's one dimensional and the camera distance can distort the true size like in the bass pics where the guy holds the fish near the cam and stands back
Guest Buck Magnet 007
Re: Bear game cam pics Well, if that tree is 3 foot across then those are some bruisers. The bear in the last picture seems to be the biggest, his stomach is really hanging low. Those are some awsome pictures. Hope you stick one of them.
