wtnhunt
Re: 777 Loose Powder Never heard that is measures different from pyrodex, but have heard that you use less grains of 777 to get the similar performance to pyrodex.
str8shooter48
Re: 777 Loose Powder Measure it by volume just like any other BP substitute. If you want 100grs. set your powder measurer for 100grs. 100 grs of 777 may be more potent than pyrodex but 100grs is 100grs by volume
Guest Bmac313
Re: 777 Loose Powder Maybe that's what I heard. I was wanting to try it clean up is easier to i've heard.
ZooBear
Re: 777 Loose Powder It is easier to clean up. I would reduce starting loads by 10%.
too_pointer
Re: 777 Loose Powder You can use 150 grains of pellets, but never try that much with lose 777. The general rule is that 120 grns of lose, equals 150 grns of pyrodex. 777 is more potent in lose forn than it is in pellet form. I shoot 777 pellets, and 777 pellets are exactly equal to pyrodex pellets. too_
lil hunter
Re: 777 Loose Powder 777 loose and pellet have the same potency(i think thats the word). But they make the pellets to wear 100 grains of 777 pellets=100 grains of the regular pyrodex. To do this, they make the 777 pellets smaller than the actual 50 grains. I hope I explained that in an understandable way.lol.
too_pointer
Re: 777 Loose Powder They did make the pellets to equal the pyrodex pellets for safety sake. The lose 777 does not equal lose pyrodex. Never use anymore than 120 grains of lose 777 in your gun. Maybe this will clear things up.Hodgen makes both powders. too_
husker
Re: 777 Loose Powder 777 measures the same. but 100 grains of 777 is 10-15% more powerful than pyrodex. (by volume)
Guest MZ_shooter
Re: 777 Loose Powder [ QUOTE ] 777 measures the same. but 100 grains of 777 is 10-15% more powerful than pyrodex. (by volume) [/ QUOTE ] I was just about to post the same and noticed this. Mental note, read all post in a thread. My old Wolverine shot accurate with 100 grs BP, to match this with 777 required only 70. Hope this helps.

When calling the manufacture of 777 (Hodgen) about accuracy problem I was told its 10-15 % stronger than pyrodex, so… does anyone else see a problem here. wtnhunt
Re: 777 Loose Powder Simply put if I understand what is being asked here, you would not want to load your ml with 150 grains of loose 777, but could load it with 150 grains of loose pyrodex. The 777 is a more powerful powder than pyrodex.
AJ
Re: 777 Loose Powder Correct, pellets (T7 or Pyrodex) are ok to use in 150 gr charges as long as your gun is designed for it. When using loose T7 reduce the amount as it will cause higher pressures than loose Pyrodex.
