Mossberg 835 choke suggestions

I'm looking at getting a Mossberg 835 turkey gun and was wondering what choke+shell combo(s) others have had good luck with?

I've been using Winchester Xtended Range 3inch #5s in my Rem autoloader. If there's a good choke combo to go with those shells, I'd like to continue using them in the Mossberg. But I'm planning to try other shells, too, to figure out what the gun likes, so any and all recommendations for chokes and shells to try would be appreciated.

Re: Mossberg 835 choke suggestions

I bought the 835 turkey thumbhole model today. Love the gun already and haven't even shot it! :-)

I've been using an Undertaker HS on my Rem 11-87 with good results and I received several recommendations on the NWTF Forums for Undertaker for the Moss 835, so I think I'll get one and try it versus the factory included turkey choke. Any other suggestions would still be appreciated.

Can't wait to pattern and try her out on a real bird. Only a couple more months until fall turkey season!

Re: Mossberg 835 choke suggestions

I too have an 835 very similar to yours. I currently shoot the xfull turkey choke that came with the gun with pretty good results. #6's and 5's worked best for me so far in winchester xtended. I think I will use this setup again for the fall and possibly by the spring when I'm done buying so much deer hunting stuff that I'll put a comp n choke in it. I have heard nothing but good bout them.

Re: Mossberg 835 choke suggestions

I'm out of town on business this week but hope to shoot at least some Win XR 3in and Rem Heavy 3in sometime in the next week or two. I might also try some Federal shells, and/or some Win XR 3.5in.

I'll post if/when I do.
