Texan_Til_I_Die
Went out to the deer lease this weekend for some repairs on the old ranch house. Saturday afternoon late I got in my jeep and took a quick spin through the 200 acre sunflower patch behind the house. The sunflowers are just starting to ripen and I got up about 200 doves. I drove through the ranch to a stock pond that's about a mile and a half from the sunflowers and sat in the jeep and watched the late afternoon flights come in. It's impossible to tell exactly how many different birds were watering there, but I'd guess I saw somewhere around 300 come in to drink during the last 30 minutes of legal shooting light. If we don't have any big rains between now and Sep 1, it should be a good opener!
