Re: amount of grain you prefure

I shot 180grn for several years. It was out of a Rem 700 chambered in .30-06 too. They were accurate and smoked the deer. However, Last year I made the switch to the 150grn corelokt. There was some noticeable difference in recoil. I hammered a 9-point and he went down on the spot. The 150grn are just as deadly (especially on deer our size, roughly 120lbs).

Personally, I probably wouldn't pick up 180grn'ers again unless I go after elk. Its not that they dont work. There is just some extra recoil and such there that you dont need.

In the .270 had been using 150 grain core lokts for years, switched and going to be using 130 grain core lokts this year though.

I shot the 150 some years ago but now shoot the 130 out of my 270.

I shoot what shoots best as far as gr is concerned

Re: amount of grain you prefure

A friend of mine just shot a huge cow elk with the reloads that I did for him! I used the 165 grain Hornady Interbonds for his 30-06. One shot through the lungs at about 100 yards and it demolished both lungs and exited the other side! She didn't take one step! Hanging weight on the carcass was 320 pounds! Big cow and the Interbonds work great!
