WABS
I've got my eye on another Ruger revolver, this one is a 357 Mag / 9mm convertable. Anyone own one that would be able to give me a little feedback? I'm also interested, since it's a used gun, what the max price I should pay for a gun that appears to be in very excellent condition. Guest Scraper
Re: Looking to buy another Ruger I just sold a vintage late 70s Ruger Security Six 357 Mag. Mint condition in the original rare red cardboard box for $325. I wish I would have known you were in the market, I haved been trying to sell it for months and finally did yesterday. HarvDog
Re: Looking to buy another Ruger I don't own or have any experience with the 357 Mag / 9mm but I do love my Ruger 357 Mag revolver!

hangunnr
Re: Looking to buy another Ruger I have a Blackhawk 357 but don't have the 9mm conversion cylinder. I would have to think that accuracy with the 9mm cylinder would be lackluster at best. You'd be running a .355 diameter bullet down a .357 bore. The .357 Blackhawk is a very pleasant shooter even with full house mag loads. I have Hogue grips on mine which are IMO a vast improvement over the stock wood or plastic. hangunnr
HarvDog
Re: Looking to buy another Ruger [ QUOTE ] HarvDog do you have a scope on yours or open sights? [/ QUOTE ] Open sights but I would evidently like to mount a scope on it and start using it for hunting. Right now, it's my "leave my alone" backup bear gun! [/ QUOTE ] I've had the convertible Blackhawk a couple of years and like it a lot. I do shoot 9mm from time to time, but mostly I practice with 38 specials. Hope to take a deer using the Win 357 ammo this year - I treat it "like a loud bow" and will keep my shots to under 30 yards with it. I believe I paid around $350 for it brand new. No scope yet - just the iron sites. Good Luck!
yooperkenny
Re: Looking to buy another Ruger Thought I'd add that I purchased this handgun to use as backup while bowhunting for bear up here 2 seasons ago. Didn't get a bear but had a timber wolf come in!
WABS
Re: Looking to buy another Ruger So as I understand it you can shoot 38 special using the 357 cylinder - is that correct? Thanks for all the input.

It's also great when you take the wife to the range. Mine was a little nervous to start but with the 38s, she really enjoyed shooting. WABS
Re: Looking to buy another Ruger Well I was the high bidder - went $10 higher than I wanted to but I think it is worth it. Hopefully I'll be able to get everything in order here today and have the gun in my hands in a couple of weeks. I'll let you know when I get it. WABS
Re: Looking to buy another Ruger Went out and ran about a 1/2 box of 357 Mag ammo through the pistol. The guy I bought it from must of been left handed because the pistol was hitting VERY high and left. I'm interested in mounting a scope on it. Does anyone have any knowledge of how I would go about doing that? What kind of bases and what type of scope?

I don't have any personal experience with this mount so I can't verify how good it is. A nice small fixed power 2X or 4X or possibly a 2-7 variable would be nice on the Blackhawk. I wouldn't go too large on the scope or the gun will be very top heavy. You might check eBite for used scopes. I've purchased a couple Burris scopes for way less than retail. hangunnr
