Jeramie
I heard this morning on the news that Gov. Henry may reinstate certain levels of the burn ban today after acre after acre has burned again in Oklahoma. For those who dont know, just a few months back we were in a burn ban that wouldn't allow Grilling (cooking), Welding, Grinding, etc. Literally nothing. There was even a huge fine on anyone flipping a cigarette out the window. Thousands of acres were charred and homes were lost. Its been a bad year. We are back to very dry conditions and with the past two weeks of well over 100deg. things are getting bad again. Towns are not rationing water by not allowing watering of lawns, no car washes, etc. Our town has actually refused to put in water taps for any new customers until this is over. Hay is at a serious low in the area. Some of the video shown on the news, showed a couple of farmers on tractors trying to move hay bales before the flames met them. Hay prices have already doubled and in a lot of cases tripled in the last month. We are suppose to get a cold front in the morning. We may see sprinkles and much lower temps of 96deg. okiedog
Re: Hey Okies, Gov. Henry To Reinstate Burn Ban. I've heard older people compare this to the dust bowl times.

hutchies
Re: Hey Okies, Gov. Henry To Reinstate Burn Ban. You are totally right. When we went down to the new lease we noticed most farmers had lost hay crops and already tilled getting ready for the fall. They also were bailing the dead corn. However it looked like the Milo farmers did great. They had a good crop down there.
