another night of carping, Pics

Ok folks, we did it again. The boss called and asked about going carp fishing with his kids, I agreed and went to the river around 6:30 to catch some Crawdads. He thought they'd arrive around 7:15, so I thought I may as well get a line in the water to start things up. At 7:05 I hooked up,

I fought this fish until 7:30. I use 10 lb. test line with Medium action rods. This means when they want to run, they run. I landed this fish, good way to start the evening.

Next came Goobers turn, ( that isn't his real name, I've been calling him that since he was a little fellow) he hooked up with a decent fish. He faught this fish for approx. 15 min.

Then came the boss's turn, we were going to leave around 8:15. LOL so much for that, he hooked up with a good fish around 8:10, and didn't land him until 8:35, he measured 36".

Man was that ever fun, we had a blast. I don't know how many pounds of carp we landed, but we figured close to 60 lbs. Hope you all enjoy the pics

I tear the tail off, then run the hook from the back of the tail towards the front. Just make sure your weight can slide on the line, they don't like to feel the weight. They just suck it in and run like crazy, I almost lost a pole last night. He hit and ran, I jumped and ran, caught the pole right before the reel entered the river. LOL

A couple buddies and I went carping the past 2 days and have only got 1 in so far. We were using a dough bait made of Instant Grits, Strawberry Jello, and Creamed Corn. They seem to like it pretty good, which is why I guess one of them jerked my rod into the water and took it about 10 yards off the bank lol. Luckily we snagged my rod because it floated, lost the fish but got my rod back! They are pretty fun to catch, pound for pound I think they fight harder than catfish. We were fishing during morning-mid day, is fishing them at night or evening the best time to fish them?

In my area, I've found that they feed well right at daylight to around 9 am. then they start up again at approx. 6 pm to 8pm. Like I said, that is in my area here. Good luck
