Guest Andrea
Anyone here raise their own worms? We just built a pretty big bed. Filled it with leaves, newspapers, vegetable scraps, etc. Got any tips? Pics? Success stories? Horror stories??
DU_man_84
Re: Worm beds i dont have one, but my buddy use to and i would always go out after the rainstorms and help him collect nightcrawlers, that was many of years ago though, but it was good at the time to have the worm bed, saves you a trip to the bait shop and also the money
257bob
Re: Worm beds When I was a kid, my great-grandma in Arkansas use to take her table scraps out every night and bury them in the same area in the yard. They didn't eat leftovers, she cooked three meals a day. When we would visit in the summer we could go out there with a shovel and turn over the dirt and get a coffee can full of the biggest night crawlers I have ever seen. My problem is that in my house I there are no table scraps. I eat everything. LOL
Guest Andrea
Re: Worm beds Every site I have been on says not to put table scraps in one. ( My grandparents always did) Says over time the bed will over heat because of all the decomposition....blah blah blah. True???

Tominator
Re: Worm beds I had one when I was in high school when we fished Lake Erie all the time. Only thing I can tell you is to keep it as cold as possible.
