Guest Andrea
OK...............I've had it. The dog's days are numbered if something doesn't happen soon. My son's dog is a jack russell. Very smart. Perhaps TOO smart. Mind of her own. Doesn't listen AT ALL when she's outside. Her favorite thing to do???????? BARK incessantly at the neigbors. The people driving by. Cats. AIR. The shock collar I bought her is missing. She must have snatched it off out in the woods or something. It was working pretty good. There's a $40 collar laying around useless now. Also.........whenever she can.....she will BOLT from the house and run out into the road. YOU CANNOT CATCH HER. She runs from you. And man is she fast. What should I do? Call the Dog Whisperer? The Dog Catcher????
BowtechTurkeyHunter
Re: Ready to shoot the dog Id put a bark collar on her and then put up a invisible fence lol ... I dont like a dog that barks to bark and if mine start I put the bark collar on them ... as far as running out fo the yard shock collar or invisible fence is the only thing I can think of ... hopefully she doesn't find out the hard way .... to bad about loosing your collar though ... your right they do get expensive ... I have 3 for my dogs one for each channel and one for each dog lol ... Steve

Jeramie
Re: Ready to shoot the dog [ QUOTE ] They're called Jack Russell Terrorists for a reason. [/ QUOTE ] Thats the truth +10. I had (keyword being had) one. We got her when she was a puppy. She would never stop and I worked her out every day. At 3:00 in the morning she was still going nuts.... Finally one night I heard something that woke me up. I turned on the light and she was chewing the base boards in our bedroom. She went outside and had a new home by the next week. The woman that took her has something like 5. She doesnt raise then, just likes them. Then again im pretty sure she is insane....

wtnhunt
Re: Ready to shoot the dog Dont know Andrea. The bark collars work well when they are on and charged up good. Our dog has gotten to where she barks at the horses and cows constantly when they come up here to water. Used to look out the window when she would bark thinking she was seeing deer or someone might be here, but never pay the barking any attention anymore. Guest Phaseolus (BeanMan)
Re: Ready to shoot the dog Andrea, Sorry to hear that, some JRT's are just wound too tight. When mine was still a pup the only thing that helped was to run his legs off, behind the atv or the Mountain Bike daily. After 15 miles he started to mellow out. Fortunately he was never much of a barker. BeanMan

Orion_70
Re: Ready to shoot the dog I have a JRT and she's a great dog. They are smart and will train you if you don't work them correctly. They do have a mind of their own though, when they lock their attention on something you can forget them listening to you. Like any dog, you have to teach them proper behavior and what's acceptable, if not they will train you..

Newarcher
Re: Ready to shoot the dog If I were reincarnated as a dog, I am positive I would be a jack russell terrier! I had a friend whose dog's house in their house was a washing machine box with a hole cut out. I would go over there and just shake the heck out of that box first time I walked in...each and every time. That dog would completely lose its mind. It got to where when I walked in, it would have to be restrained for trying to attack me. I dunno why? New
