Guest Rhinodog
These are the rifles that are kinda like the TC Encores. Does anybody have any experience with one? Thanks -Ryan
Guest Rhinodog
Re: CVA Optima Elite I went and bought one today at Gander Mountain. I'll let you all know what I think after I shoot it. I got the black fleck/blued version for $350 after tax. Finish looks really good, can't wait to try it.
too_pointer
Re: CVA Optima Elite I'm not too familiar with that gun but I'm sure it will work fine. Can you give us a pic of your new muzzleblaster too_
hunterfisherman
Re: CVA Optima Elite The new ones are ok. They had a nightmare in the past with mag loads but the company that bought them out seems to have fixed that. Good luck with your new gun. Not much better than getting a new gun
Guest toothpick
Re: CVA Optima Elite I got one this past weeknd at bass pro. Its the camo/stainless muzzleloader/270 combo and paid just under $600. I already own a couple of MLs but my wife wanted to start deer hunting again and I thought the single shot would be safer and easier (plus I get to add another ML to the safe). The set up is pretty nice looking and really comfortable. Have not shot the ML yet but the 270 is punching 1" to 1 1/4" groups with winchester silvertips. Better than I expected from a break-action! Should get out to shoot the ML in a week or two and will report back.
MCH
Re: CVA Optima Elite Thinking about buying the camo/stainless ML/.243 combo. Shoot the 50 cal., tooth, and get back with us.
Guest toothpick
Re: CVA Optima Elite OK. Shot both barrels again Sunday. Learned that the .270 will walk a little north on you when it gets hot but stays tight if you give it time between shots. Switched back to ML and shot it a little less than 20 times. Gun seems to like 2 pellets and a 295 powerbelts fine which is all I had with me. After getting it on paper at 25 I had 2 groups that would probably run about 1.5" at 50 yards. I think the gun will do better if I play with it but need more time (and bullets). All in all I like the gun and it seems to handle just fine. I think the ML barrel will be too long for my wife to shoot but the CF fits her well. Good thing for me
Guest DaveGP
Re: CVA Optima Elite that seems to be the magic combo for the optima...mine wont shoot anything straiter than a 295 grain aero tip pb with 2 pellets pushing it
