AaronS
I'm interested in the Encore muzzleloader and everything I've read so far has been good. Does anyone have any negatives about the Encore? What is a fair price for the blued barrel/walnut stock combo?
too_pointer
Re: Questions about the Encore Hello, I see many people have read this post but haven't replied ! I take this as a real positive for the gun. I own an Encore and haven't found anything that would keep me from recommending it. I have the synthetic stock on mine, not sure what a wood stocked one goes for. too_pointer
ScottyLuck
Re: Questions about the Encore Well one of the downfalls could be if you get a lemon for a barrel. By that I mean one that just won't group for you no matter what loads you try. But that can pretty much happen with any ML since no to will shoot the same. My Encore was shooting 3" 5 shot groups at 100yds out of the box. I had the QLA removed from the bbl and installed a Bellmn oversized hinge pin and am now getting sub 1" groups at 100yds. By the way, the mods I made cost me less than $75. It's a great gun. If I remember correctly from when I was shopping for mine, the combo you're looking for should run in the high 5's for price. lil hunter
Re: Questions about the Encore I can think of only one major negative about the encore, I don't own one. But, christmas is coming up, and your always welcome to buy me one for a present.
AaronS
Re: Questions about the Encore Thanks guys. I may try to get one before next year. For now I'll have to stick with the MK85. Lil'....maybe Santa will have an Encore in your stocking.
str8shooter48
Re: Questions about the Encore T/C synthetic stocks are pretty cheesy. Hollow and noisy. I put a Boyds laminated stockset on mine, a world of diffference. Better balanced, quiet, and a whole lot better looking. Go walnut or laminated stock. Other than the synthetic stock absolutely no complaints. One other thing not a complaint but not a neccesity the extractor remove it and leave it out so you can pull the breech plug and clean the gun without taking the gun down. I've had mine for three years now after changing the stockset no regrets at all. It's a great shooter.
