I really enjoy squirrel hunting but don't have much time to go. If you guys could post when you notice them starting to cut and what kind of nuts they are cutting and what area you guys are in, it would help me know when I need to go out. like i said i don't have much time so I don't get to keep an eye on when they start. thanks.

Re: Squirrels cutting in your area yet?

We have very few Hickory nuts or Walnuts this year. Last year the trees were loaded. However the Oaks seem to have a good crop of acorns. I've seen very few Squirrels though. I Squirrel hunt in a woods about 60 miles north of my home. It might be a different story up there.

I got out this morning a harvested three. They were all starting to test the hickory's. Not to much action, they were not moving much yet and not to many cut hull on the ground. I believe they are on the verge though, my only concern is that it doesn't look like there are very many nuts. We are in a drought right now and I don't think the mast crops took it very well.
