It gives the shooter options as to how hot of a primer they want to use. You can use small pistol, small pistol magnum, small rifle, and match versions of each. The 209 has way too much power for optimum use in most muzzleloaders. In my Knight Disc Elites, I use PR's VariFlame Adapter.
