Yep, I use one in my Encore. It gives the shooter options as to how hot of a primer they want to use. You can use small pistol, small pistol magnum, small rifle, and match versions of each. The 209 has way too much power for optimum use in most muzzleloaders.

In my Knight Disc Elites, I use PR's VariFlame Adapter. It allows the use of the small pistol or small rifle primers like the .25 ACP case does but has a 209 primer shape.
