ousoonerfan22
I just picked up my remington .204 from the gunsmith and he set the trigger at 3 1/4 lbs. I wanted it about 2.5 lbs but he said he wouldn't set one below 3 lbs. How many lbs do you guys prefer on trigger pull?
OJR
Re: trigger job? I like mine set at 3 lbs. Both of my Tikka's are set that way and I have had several rifles in the past and had all of them set to 3 lbs.!
johnf
Re: trigger job? Both My NEF's are at the factory minimum, which I think is around 3.25lbs. I like it there. My 336 is pretty close to the nef's maybe a little lighter.
AJ
Re: trigger job? My varmint gun's triggers weigh in between 2 ounces and 1.5 pounds. My BR gun has a 2 ounce trigger. My big game guns are between 1.5 and 3 pounds. I don't like heavy triggers.
ousoonerfan22
Re: trigger job? AJ, I don't like heavy triggers either mainly because I need all the help I can get. When the trigger pull is in ounces do you have to be carefull when closing the bolt on a live round?
PA_Spike_King
Re: trigger job? When the trigger pull is in ounces do you have to be carefull when closing the bolt on a live round? Yes you do very much, my Dad has a Sako in 222 rem and the trigger was way to light. It went off when it wasn't supossed to so he had it fixed and him and I have killed meny woodchucks since. 257bob
Re: trigger job? I also like a light trigger. My coyote rifle is a little more than 1.5#. I have another rifle that has a crisp and consistent 4.5# trigger. It shoots 1/2 inch groups from the bench, but in the field I struggle to hit consistently. I think 2# would probably be ideal for most hunters.
AJ
Re: trigger job? [ QUOTE ] When the trigger pull is in ounces do you have to be carefull when closing the bolt on a live round? [/ QUOTE ] Not when its done correctly. Granted you don't slam it shut, but its not exactly blow on it to go bang either. When a trigger is that light, you must use an aftermarket 3 lever trigger like the Jewell, Shilen, or other competition trigger.
