#17 was the Charm

Looking forward to my Wife's first season as a hunter I've been asking landowners for permission to hunt.

I asked him if he knew anybody around that had land that my wife could hunt her first season...he said "How about Here"?

I reminded him that I was not asking permission for myself but just for my wife and he said "I dont mind if you hunt too".

I told him that I would not let anyone know the particulars about the property...including who owned it. I just wanted my wife to have a positive experience her first year hunting and hopefully a harvest.

The land is absolutely fantastic...plenty of cover, swamp, fields, and woods.

I asked him where he would setup a ground blind for my wife if he was guiding her on the hunt...we walked around the side of the building. He said "See that back corner of the field...15 yards inside that corner is where 15-20 deer cross in the evening...hows that"? shocked.gif

I thanked him, drove home, and stopped back by a little later dropping off a new treestand for him to replace a wooden one he has been using that we talked about earlier wink.gif

Congrats Gary! This is a great thing.

Did you actually give him the stand or is this a let borrow for hunting rights?

This stand giving, if this is what it was Gary, will not inter f ere with our hunt to your secret spot does it?

BTW: when are we going to meet at Denny's for lunch?

Maybe we then could swing by and check out this spot.

Re: #17 was the Charm

Harry, The stand was a gift for the privelege of hunting there. Not to worry though I have 2 loc-ons, a climber, a popup ground blind,....and since my wife found out about me being willing to give this stand away for her benefit...I'll be getting at least one more if not two stands(to say the least she was very impressed).

I think about what happened as a "two way street" and it's a relationship I hope to have last for years to come!!!

I also plan to go there and help out with yard work and other work on the property(which him and I talked about) to:

"Treat him like I would want to be treated".

I consider this chance to hunt private property a Golden Opportunity and I believe that it needs to be treated that way!

I'll send you a PM on the day/date of meeting with Dave and I at Denny's before we go on a scouting trip to a couple places both him and I have GPS'ed.
