buffett1
I am getting some new carbon arrows and was wondering what the difference pros/cons are of the different vanes out there. The pro shop mentioned the quick spins...rregular vanes...and an imitation vane that ruffles like a feather, but holds up better. Are any of these better than the other? Please help me out before I sink a load into these. Thanks.
Tony
Re: arrow vane difference with all the differant kinds of vanes and fletching out there its no wonder most of us get confused. i have always shot either 4 or 3 inch straight fletch. i have never seen a benifit of shooting blazers vanes or quick spins. some guys use them and like them a lot. i just havent seen any need to change from what works for me. i believe that if your arrows are properly tuned for the broadhead . which means spin tuned, there is no need to shoot anything but just 3 degree offset straight fletch. i have always shot 4 inch straight feathers on my recurve and 3 or 4 inch straight vanes for my compound hunting bow. my best arrows i had for hunting had 3 inch flex flecth low profiles on them. those arrow were spin tuned and shot outstanding. if you buy arrows that are not fletched, then you have a ton of options as to what you can put on them. im able to spend a lot of time making sure my arrows are perfect. you might ask to shoot an arrow with a broadhead on it and try one of each kind. i fi was you i owuld start with 1/2 dozen straight flecth and see how your broadheads fly with thos. if you need to switch then keep the other 1/2 dozen bare shaft and ask to have a few fletched up with quick spins or blazers.
