Tominator
Re: I NEED HELP PLEASE I\'M NEW TO BOWHUNTING Well, there's all kinds of things that could be wrong, but if you're consistently missing low and left, move your pin down and left, that should bring your arrows closer to where you want them to hit. BTW--Don't type in all CAPS, it's kind of annoying.
toddyboman
Re: I NEED HELP PLEASE I\'M NEW TO BOWHUNTING I would try what Tominator said first. If that doesnt help could be a a number of things. Let us know how the progress comes.
Covehnter
Re: I NEED HELP PLEASE I\'M NEW TO BOWHUNTING Get to the nearest pro shop and get to talking with some of the guys there. Actually having someone to show you really helps b/c they can see problems that you may be overlooking.

tclubbs2
Re: I NEED HELP PLEASE I\'M NEW TO BOWHUNTING lucky, i too am newer to the sport. Listen to what these guys say about getting into the nearest pro shop. Talk to the shop owner. They understand that being new to the sport you don't want to spend a lot of money until you get better at it. They should be willing and eager to help you. At least that is what I have found. I take my new bow to the pro shop tomorrow to sight it in. The pro there has helped me tremendously. He only sells Matthews and Hoyt. I told him I don't want to spend that much and he told me of some places that have good deals on some bows. I bought my arrows from him and a few accessories too. When I am ready to spend the big $$$'s I will definately buy one from him.
wtnhunt
Re: I NEED HELP PLEASE I\'M NEW TO BOWHUNTING I am by no means an expert, but would think the pin set for the guy at bass pro will not work for you unless you are anchoring exactly the same as he did. You have to set your bow up for you. I would move the pins just as tominator suggested and go from there. From your second reply here, sounds to me like you may not be anchoring consistently. [/ QUOTE ] BINGO !! ,,, You can't have someone else sight in your bow, everything about shooting a compound bow is unique to you, and you alone... The guy at the PRO Shop can get it close for ya, but the rest is up to you, to fine tune.... GOOD LUCK,, with some patience and practice you'll get it.... Guest always_ruttin
Re: I NEED HELP PLEASE I\'M NEW TO BOWHUNTING you probably need to paper tune your setup. Also repetition, repetition, repetition. Make sure you are anchoring the same way every time you shoot your bow. Also definitely get help from a local pro shop, they will help you sight your bow in a nd get it comfortable for you to shoot. I have had better luck with smaller shops rather than Bass Pro or Cabella's etc. Simply cause the smaller shops will do so much more to get and keep your business. No, disrespect to the larger companies I do a fair amount of business with them as well.
Smitteken
Re: I NEED HELP PLEASE I\'M NEW TO BOWHUNTING If you don't have a peep sight or a kisser button get one or both. They will help you anchor the same each time.
Guest crnkbt01
Re: I NEED HELP PLEASE I\'M NEW TO BOWHUNTING The key to hitting the target is simple. One you have to get your sights lined up first. While you are doing this you have to anchor the exact same points everytime and release the exact same way every time. When you set your bow up sights ect... you have to shoot the exact same way everytime. One big thing I had problems with when I first started was grabbing the bow, in other words I was jerking it. do not grab the bow if you are right handed sometimes that will make you shoot left. Guest dmitchell28
Re: I NEED HELP PLEASE I\'M NEW TO BOWHUNTING okay guys, i am not a professional at this either, i ve been doing it for about 3 years. i have been lucky enough to take a buck every year, and i think that it might be a lot luck. This is how bad it is, i have messured off my sights and shot them consistently, but never really tried to adjust them. I just kind of adjust the sight to compensate where it is going. bad huh. and i have heard people say that when you grip your bow not to hold it tight but to maybe use your index and thumb and leave your other three fingers out. Is there any good way of doing all this
BowJoe
Re: I NEED HELP PLEASE I\'M NEW TO BOWHUNTING One dvd or video you might want to pick up is "So, you want to be a bowhunter" Wal mart used to sell it but you can definately find it on Amazon or some hunting stores carry it online like basspro or cabelas. Very usefull.
BowJoe
Re: I NEED HELP PLEASE I\'M NEW TO BOWHUNTING As for tips...... Don't grip your bow at all. Place the throat of your handle in the "V" that your hand makes between your thumb and index finger. Stiffen your wrist but don't wrap your fingers around the grip. Just let your fingers relax completely as if your hand is at your side. This may prevent your bow from torqueing to the left. Draw your bow like normal and when your pin is settled on the target, slowly touch your trigger. Don't hit the trigger or pull the trigger, just barely touch it until it goes off. your finger should not be touching the trigger after it goes off. Just barely touch it until you feel it release. Don't try to stop the pin on the target as this will fatigue your arm and frustrate you even more. Just let your pin float around the exact point you are aiming at and then follow the steps to shooting. Keep your feet at a 45 degree angle to the target. You don't want to be facing directly to the target or directly to the right (if you are a right handed shooter). Make sure the poundage is set for you too. If you can't hold the bow for at least a minute then it's too much weight. If you can't draw the bow at all when sitting in a chair then it's too much weight. Remember to always shoot smooth and build up your muscle before you get too frustrated at not being too accurate. Nobody in here or anywhere else started out shooting bullseyes everytime. Just practice and be smooth.
PAbowhunter86
Re: I NEED HELP PLEASE I\'M NEW TO BOWHUNTING Like all of the people here have said it could be a number of things. When I first started my form was off, what I did was go to a 3d shoot and watch the form of the archers. You could even find pictures. Another thing is the sights it takes me a week to get my bow sighted in after about 10 arrows you get tired. So shoot a little and each day until you are sighted in. Hope that helps and remeber practice, practice, practice.
hunterfisherman
Re: I NEED HELP PLEASE I\'M NEW TO BOWHUNTING When I first started I went to a pro shop the first two times I shot. They are usually very helpful and will give you tips to get you on the square. Good luck and welcome to bowhunting
