Hoyt03
I recently put a new string on my bow Hoyt cam 1/2 and have put roughly 200 shot on the new string. The last 20 - 30 shots I have noticed the string is harder to hold back and is trying to jerk my arm off forward, kinda like i'm not getting a solid wall when I draw back and the cams are trying to go back forward. This is the first I have ever noticed this with this bow, and it makes it hard to shoot accurate with the fact that I can barely hold it back now and am afraid of it going forward. I'm only pulling like 60 lbs so thats not an issue. Any insight would be helpful. Do I need to shorten up my draw, lengthen? I think it has to have something with the fact that my new string has stretched out maybe. This was not happening until about after 150 shots. tedicast
Re: probs with my Hoyt I'm not a Hoyt shooter, but my best guess is, if the draw weight wasn't cranked up on you, that possible the string stretch has the bow out of time, and one of the cams is trying to roll over. Like I said... I don't know a lot about hoyts, but thats is my guess.
AdvantageTimberLou
Re: probs with my Hoyt Can you take the bow back to the pro shop that installed the string and see if indeed the timing is off on your cams? I am getting a new string (a Bucknasty string) on my bow that has the Cam and 1/2 system of Hoyt's and I will bring up your dilemma to them and hope I don't have the same deal. Sounds like the string is indeed stretching in your case and that is the problem. Try marking the string with a pencil and keep that reference point and see what happens after some shots and see if it indeed is stretching. Another place to post your question, www.archerytalk.com, there are some really smart guys over there just like here or PM Tony on here, that man is a genius when it comes to bows!! VtBowhunter
Re: probs with my Hoyt Sounds like the string didn't get the proper number of twists and that makes the string longer, and you draw longer and therefor much harder to maintain full draw on. Take it to the shop, have them take the string off, pull it tight and put 30 full twists in it, then put it back on, and shoot and see if that's it. Hoyt03
Re: probs with my Hoyt Thanks for the replies so far. I did post this over at AT and got similar responses. I'm pretty sure that my cams are not in sync, and I called my proshop last night and he was talking about putting some twist in it. He is a Hoyt dealer and if you buy your bow from him he will do bow adjustments for you free of charge, plus this Is where I got the string put on. Someone on AT had an article on how to fix this prob but I dont have a bow press so I'm going to go to the pro shop to get it fixed. Man its tough to shoot accurate when that botttom cam is trying to turn over and take your arm off.
