Guest malikai
Hey guys, I was wondering How dangerous wild boars are to humans, and What is should do if i run into one. Are they near wisconsin? Cheers, Joe
jcwa
Re: Just How dangerous? Wild boars can be very dangerous. They have tusk that are extremely sharp. Most hogs will run from you but their are some that will stand their ground. If one comes at you the best thing to do is get something in between you and the hog. If you can climb up a tree, he will leave soon enough.

Saw a show years ago & a Guy Shot a Big Boar 300-400 lbs with a 357 over 6 times & it was still coming at him. Way Tough Animals. On a Bow Hunting Video a Guy shot a Big Boar 300-400 lbs at 25 yds & it turned & charged the hunter & film Crew. Be Careful Nothing to mess with if you don't know. ODH
Re: Just How dangerous? Yes there dangerous, them tusks are very sharp. If you run into one shoot it, unless your unarmed, then find a tree to climb that close or just don't freak out or freak it out.

Guest darold
Re: Just How dangerous? they can be very dangerious, a charging hog can take a load in the vitals and still rip you from one end to the other. take warning shoot before he gets real close and break him down like a grizzly then finish him off. now if hes standing and you have a good shot, then you will most likely drop him in his tracks
Guest ronin
Re: Just How dangerous? I've been chased by a wounded 200 pounder and was lucky enough to shoot it in the head at about 3 yards. The mayor of Hollister, CA, was almost killed by a boar but was able to draw a handgun and shoot it. He was still hospitalized for quite some time. dogdoc
Re: Just How dangerous? a momma sow can be much more dangerous than a boar. Any boar that I have encountered on the ground has run at first sight of me. I've stalked up to a few on the ground with a bow--I was a little nervous but looked around for a good climbing tree before flinging the arrow.
