Turkeygirl
Ok fellow hunting women; I'm in need of some bow suggestions. I'm looking into getting a new bow. Currently shoot a Mystic Rebel which is old, a little hefty, and just plain outdated, lol. I've been looking at Hoyts, specifically the Rintec and Selena, but I also held onto a Martin Cougar today that felt nice and saw on Basspro the Reflex Excursion which appears good also. I'm lookig for something in the 25-26" draw length, 40-50 pound draw weight range with a grip that isn't too thin. Held a bow today that feltl ike I was holding air, lol, but the Martin Cougar has a nice grip. Just wondering what bows you ladies shoot, what your draw weight is, and any bows you suggest? Thanks! Gus
Re: What bows do you shoot? I have been shooting the same bow for the last few years, maybe next year I will get a new one. I have a PSE Durango set at 60 pounds and shoot 28.5 inch gold tip arrows. Also have a trophy taker drop away rest which I really like. ladydiehard
Re: What bows do you shoot? I shoot a PSE Bruin. 40-50lb weight. I currently shoot at 40lbs. Draw length for me is 25. Its an inexpensive bow considered to be entry level but well able to do the job. The wife of my Proshop guy uses this same bow and has taken big bucks, bear and turkey with it. She also shoots just 40lbs with carbon arrows and 85 grain Thunderheads. You should see the pics of what shes taken with this so-called "entry level" bow. TxStarr
Re: What bows do you shoot? I shoot a Reflex Excursion set at 43 lbs (I had hubby increase the weight this year and am hopng to take it up a tad more before hunting season starts) and my draw length is 25". Last year i did not get a deer but got two pigs (a through and through on the first one to hit the second one in the lungs -- fluke that I can almost guarantee won't happen ever again). Turkeygirl
Re: What bows do you shoot? dmitchmell28 - I'm still looking for my new bow but I would suggest finding out her draw length and draw weight. Take her to a bow shop and let her try out a few bows. If she is most comfortable shooting left handed, she should get a left handed bow then. I have about a 25-26" draw length and my draw weight is about 40-50.
BowtechsWife
Re: What bows do you shoot? I am looking for a new bow as well. I really liked the Bowtech LadyHawk, however that has been discontinued. I began looking hands on tonight...so far my options are the Browning Micro Adrenaline and Bowtech Equalizer. I plan to keep looking and see what I can find. dmitchmell28 - I would recommend taking your girlfriend to a local shop and just look at bows...they can help you with picking the right poundage, draw, etc. Plus you can get a feel for what she likes. Once you get some ideas you can surprise her and buy it....then let my husband know how it went and recommend him to do the same.

Guest dmitchell28
Re: What bows do you shoot? well i took her to the BPS and she loved the Diamond Rapture Lite, Parker Micro Phoenix, and there was a browning bow that was cheaper, she was interested in. The first two are sorta pricey and i like them too, and the way they look. She pays close attention to how they are made, how they look, if they look cheap made, and all kinds of stuff. So we are still in the processes of it. i will check into the other bows that you all have recommended. I was just wondering, can you lower the weight of a Parker ultra lite 31, change something to make it fit her? She loves that bow. Thanks ladies
Ozarkgal
Re: What bows do you shoot? Go for it I was shooting a Mathews Mustang and just traded it in for a Hoyt Rintec and I love it, just took it to our archery shoots that we have every month and first time shooting it I shot a 370 out of 400, it is a sweet bow, and about the selene the only difference is a litte heaver than the rintec and about 50 to 100 dollar difference, if I was U I would get the rintec at 35 pounds it was shooting 225 and at 40 pounds it was shooting about 240 and that is 26in draw. What I loved most was the break over and the grip. But if you get it I dont think you will regret it.
