buckee
Re: Harness or NO harness??? I always wear one, and I almost had a tumble once too. It's just a matter of time before something happens, and everyone should wear one. If they don't, they are flirting with death, or very serious injuries. tedicast
Re: Harness or NO harness??? I will not leave the ground without my harness. I will miss a hunt, rather then take the chance. All of our stands, other the ladders, have Summit Climbing Systems rigged on them. This way you are connected from the time you leave the groung, untill the time you climb back down. You owe it to yourself, and to your family to wear a harness. They might not be the most glamorous piece of equiptment you own, but anything can happen when you are on a 2'x2' platform, 20 to 30" up. GWSmith
Re: Harness or NO harness??? I also NEVER leave the ground without wearing a harness! I use a linemans belt while hanging Loc-On stands and my regular harness when in my Climber. I even use one while setting up and using a ladderstand. I make my own rope systems that is like the summit climbing system using a Prussic Knot.

johnf
Re: Harness or NO harness??? I woke up this morning about 3:30 and took 4 advil so I could sleep. The pain in my T12 vertibrea was almost unbearible. I fell on nov. 1 last year from a ladder stand and will never get off the ground without a harness again. Do yourself a favor, get one and use it every time. BTW I have a system like GWSmith's that I'll be using on my ladder stand and climbing stick and I'll be using the Summit system while climbing. Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
Re: Harness or NO harness??? i wear one EVERYTIME i get in a stand...its bad enough i am scared of heights...the thought of hitting the ground terrifies me ...if it wasn't so uncomfortable i would find a way to put a parachute on to
hunterfisherman
Re: Harness or NO harness??? I never leave the ground without one. Odds are that you are going to fall at some point. I don't want someone explaining, to my son, why I'm not coming home or coming home in a wheel chair. I have a friend who's sister in law works at a hospital and she said she allways know's when it's hunting season because of all the neck and back injuies. I hope you reconisder and start wearing one. Even a basic one. It only takes one fall.
Tominator
Re: Harness or NO harness??? Like I tell my buddies all the time--"I didn't beat cancer 4 times to take a tumble from a tree." Yep, always do.

hunterfisherman
Re: Harness or NO harness??? I only have two but if it ment you would wear it I would give you one or go buy one. I don't want any hunter to he hurt. We are a small brotherhood and sisterhood. We have to look out for each other. I hope these comments help you to see how many care about you. Please reconsider for yourself and your family. I bet you could find a thousand guys in here that will send you one if you would wear it. ODH
Re: Harness or NO harness??? You should always wear a harness when up high. That would be a heck of a way to go by falling out of the tree and snapping your neck.

Gator
Re: Harness or NO harness??? Yep, I always wear one, I hunt 95% from a ladder stand, so when I get up there, that is the second thing I do, first being take my pack off so I can put my harness around the tree!! GWSmith
Re: Harness or NO harness??? Muff, I was thinking about this thread and remembered what I was told when I used to Sky-Dive: "It's not the fall that kills you...It's the sudden impact with the ground" I have 2 harnesses availible that I'll give away for just the shipping cost!
