Guest Finn
Not sure I need another hobby, but I'm looking to get a TC Omega and can buy a SS w/Realtree for $455, shipped to me. Is that about the going price? Do I want the .50 or .45 caliber? How much is all the other stuff roughly going to cost? Thanks.
257bob
Re: newbie to ML questions I think that is fair price. I think you can get cleaning supplies, powder, bullets and primers for about $75. I just bought an Omega last season and TC puts a very informative DVD in with the gun. It gives cleaning and bullet powder recomendations. I have said this on here before, but check out the Nikon Omega scope for that rifle. I have a 50 cal., but have never shot a 45 cal. AJ
Re: newbie to ML questions As to which caliber, its up to you. If you are just going to have a deer gun, the .45 cal will be more than adequate, if you plan to hunt elk, moose, and other larger critters, I would go for the .50 cal. Add some good optics, get the necessary cleaning items, and start shooting to see what the gun likes.
Guest Finn
Re: newbie to ML questions Thanks guys. I'll be only hunting whitetails and in Wisconsin. Will probably go with the .45 caliber and no magnification is allowed on scopes.
hunterfisherman
Re: newbie to ML questions I just bought and Omega and it's now my favorite gun. I'm going to use it this year instead during firearms season intead of my 12 guage. That gun is the exact one I purchase. Best hunting purchase I've ever made
str8shooter48
Re: newbie to ML questions Go with the .50 cal. Its more the standard, more projectile selections. It will do everyting a .45 will do and more.
Guest MZ_shooter
Re: newbie to ML questions Better check your states regulations and think about what type of bullet you’re going to use. Some states require 45 caliber or larger on big game, this might limit your choices as most sabot bullets will measure less than .
Guest Finn
Re: newbie to ML questions Here's from the WI DNR site. The .45 Omega a rifled muzzlelaoder and should be legal?
Guest littlered
Re: newbie to ML questions go with the .50 cal for many reasons, more power, better selection of ammo, the ammo you do buy is somewhat cheaper, and they're just a better caliber IMO. red
Slugger
Re: newbie to ML questions my omega is .45 There are plenty of choices on bullets the only place you have trouble finding .45cal stuff is at wally world!
too_pointer
Re: newbie to ML questions Most gun and sporting goods stores are catching up on supplies for the .45. As it gets more popular you will see more stores selling. Right now the 50 cal. is the most popular. too_
