ousoonerfan22
Re: When Should I plant. If your area has been getting rain and it's not a 100 degrees I would go ahead and plant it.

sskybnd
Re: When Should I plant. me too but i went to basspro shop, i got a bag of clover made by the whitetail instatute, they have been working with me on what to plant, i sent them a soil sample, and said it was at 4.9 and needed to be atleast 6.0 to 7 to grow clover, they told me that i needed to get about 1000 lbs of lime and to till the plot and let ity sit for a few months, so i'l be planting around the 1 of sept, so im hopeing for the best

Guest luckyman4
Re: When Should I plant. [ QUOTE ] Why let it sit a few months after liming? [/ QUOTE ] You let it sit a few months to allow the lime to actually change the soil pH. The lime you apply actually has to weather and release its chemicals into the soil before the soil pH truly raises. You may take a pH test before then and get a higher reading because the lime reacts with the chemicals in the pH kit, but the soil pH is not actually high enough to allow the plant to get the nutrients it needs. Whether that process takes a few MONTHS or not might be questioned, but once you are out of the spring planting window, the best recomendations from people like the whitetail institute would be to tell you to wait untill fall.
