Guest JimW
Im trying to sight in a new omega it is constantly shooting high.I tried shooting at 25 yards it was about 16 inches high. I moved the rear sight down as low as it will go and at 100 yds it is still 11 inches high.Ive tried to burry the front sight as low in the back sight as I can and still high. Wondering if someone had any ideas on how to fix this problem. Thanks Jim
AJ
Re: shooting high Welcome to the forums. Add more powder. Sounds like you are shooting a light load. Are you shooting the apple off the stick or keeping the sights aligned? Are they like: a: -o- or b: _o_
Guest JimW
Re: shooting high I am shooting 100 grains of loose powder and a 270 grain powerbelt platinum. I have tried to aim with the front sight dot level with rear sight dots. and also stuck the front sight dot as low in the rear sight as I can without loosing it. Hoyt03
Re: shooting high I agree with the others. You are going to have to play around with different loads until you find what patterns best out of your gun. Out of my omega I simply put 2 pellets down the barrel followed by a 250 gr T/C shockwave and was just about dead on. I've sinced added a scope but havent got to sight in yet. Goodluck finding the right load, and welcome to the forums.
AJ
Re: shooting high Another thing can be your front rest. Is it hard like bare wood? If the front rest is hard (bare wood) it will cause a higher POI vs a medium (sandbag) or soft compound (pillow, rug, etc) for a front rest. too_pointer
Re: shooting high I guess I need to buy the leather sand bags. I sight everything in using my varminter rest which has hard plastic covered v's to hold the gun. Geez, you think I'm made of $$$$ LOL.
