Squirrelhunter91
Ok so who wears a facemask when the bowhunt? On tv hunting shows, sometimes they wear a facemask, sometimes they don't, and both have decent success, afterall, that's why they're showing that hunt on tv. But anyway, I find it hard to shoot with a facemask on because it changes my POI when I shoot. I think this year I may experiment with face paint because I hate a facemask. So how about the rest of ya? Facemask or No Facemask?
Guest Finn
Re: Facemask or No Facemask? No mask. I sometimes wipe the dust from our woodstove on my face to take the shine off. I feel being still is more important than camo.
hunterfisherman
Re: Facemask or No Facemask? I'm a facemask guy. No real reason that I can think of other than it makes me feel better to have it on
magnatecsteve
Re: Facemask or No Facemask? Facemask here, just in case a deer might be browsing or wind checking, I don't want my face to stand out...Camo paint is too messy and hard to apply in the dark... Guest ILclimber
Re: Facemask or No Facemask? I dabble? I usually go facemask - less, but I have worn one sometimes in the past.
Jeramie
Re: Facemask or No Facemask? Any advantage helps. Ive had deer look right at me before and Ive always worn a mask. I figure if its working dont change it. During Rifle and ML its a little different but I always wear one during bow season.
Smitteken
Re: Facemask or No Facemask? I dabble too. Early season I'll wear face paint. I got some stuff that goes on easy, dries nice, and comes off with water. Plus I feel like rambo when I'm wearing it. Later in the season I'll wear a mask mainly to keep my big ole snozz from freezing off.
Guest Bob_D
Re: Facemask or No Facemask? I wear a 3/4 facemask that I can pull down when I get ready to shoot.
257bob
Re: Facemask or No Facemask? I always wear a face mask. I think sometimes the videos are deceiving. Most of the time when you see a guy shoot his bow or gun on camera, he was not shooting at the animal. The camera man has one camera and has to shoot the animal as it is coming in and being shot. Then they film the hunter doing his show in the tree. Just because you don't see a mask in the videos don't assume they don't wear one. Editing is a wonderful thing and they can add so much to a hunt after it is done.
arrow32
Re: Facemask or No Facemask? I wear one. I just wear mine the hole time and really like wearing them once it gets cold out cause those all day sits can be pretty hard.
ladydiehard
Re: Facemask or No Facemask? I've tried both facepaint and a facemask. When its hot, facepaint feels bad to me. So I switched to a facenet. Its light, doesn't get in the way, keeps the bugs off and when deer look up, there isn't a bright patch against the tree. In colder weather I have a heavier facemask but yet not too thick to affect shooting. Plus it provides needed warmth.

AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Facemask or No Facemask? Guest nwmobuckfan
Re: Facemask or No Facemask? Always wore a mask when I first started hunting. Now I rarely where a mask. I grow a beard and that keeps me pretty warm come later in the season.
wtnhunt
Re: Facemask or No Facemask? Depends honestly. Early season for archery usually I do wear a head cover, but mostly for protecting me from mosquitoes more so than for concealment. Never use one during the rifle seasons here. Switchback29A1
Re: Facemask or No Facemask? I always wear one during bow season. At the beggining when it's 95 degrees outside I don't put it on untill it cools down a little bit.
mitrrophybowhunter
Re: Facemask or No Facemask? I always use a scent Lok facemask (I have bad breath LOL) ! I just get used to it and it is thin so it won't effect my anchor.

Tom2008
Re: Facemask or No Facemask? Yep I use a face mask too. Ever since I started bow hunting I have used one just find it easier to cover my face instead of using face paint. Doesn't effect my shooting at all really. Guest fishermanwhohunts
Re: Facemask or No Facemask? I use a facemask. I can feel the nock set I use as a kisser button perfectly through mine. It's just a cheap one made by Hunter's Specialties. It actually keeps my face pretty warm. If you have trouble feeling a nock set or kisser through your mask you can buy a cheap mesh type, a cheap cloth type, and a cheap fleece type (they do exist). They need to be cheapos because that way you can cut a hole in the corner of the lip. When it wears out in that spot, you can get a new one cheaply. Doesn't make any noise when the string rubs against it too.
unioncountyslayer
Re: Facemask or No Facemask? I wear one, but I cut a piece out on the right side along my mouth so that I can find my kisser easier. And I also practice with it on to get comfortable before the season.
