Facemask or No Facemask?

Re: Facemask or No Facemask?

I always use a facemask when bowhunting. One time I whistled to stop a coyote and it looked right at me. I am positive that if I wasn't wearing a facemask he would have seen my big white face and ran like crazy. It turned out to be my first confirmed bow kill on a coyote. Why take the chance of getting spotted? Who cares what those guys on TV do. There is so much acting going on in hunting videos that they could do the real hunting with a facemask on and then take it off to film the interviews and the fake shot. I mean don't get me wrong, I love hunting videos, but I would recommend wearing a mask for bowhunting.

Just grow a beard, that way you dont need a face mask!!

You better shave your head because that hair holds scent.

Thats taking scent control a little too far. Im not going to change my appearance to hunt deer. Ive alwyas had a head of hair and never got winded. Besides that, I shoot a Mathews, I can shoot em before they get close enough to smell me!! ooo.gif

Re: Facemask or No Facemask?

I always wear a facemask. It's always some kind of charcoal filtered one too like Scent Lok. Covering up the scent from my hair and breath is probably one of the most important things to do IMHO. Never had a problem with my anchor point changing or my point of impact.
