Guest dmitchell28
I bought this gun before they went out of business, cause i got a good buy on it and thought about going out west. I put a new Bushnell scope on it and shot it 5 times to line in the scope and put it up. Now that they are out of business, should i keep the gun put up for the value or should i just use it like anything else???? How much of a value would or does this gun have??? 257bob
Re: Winchester Featherlite model 70 .300 WSM Winchester is out of business, but a lot of their guns are still being manufactured by FN. Shoot it.
Guest dmitchell28
Re: Winchester Featherlite model 70 .300 WSM thats whati was kinda thinking, i mean i have a regular .270 winchester, and i use it, but the featherlite shoots so much better than the 270, but if its gonna ruin its value than i will just put this ole boy up
AJ
Re: Winchester Featherlite model 70 .300 WSM Since it has already been shot, shooting it more does not mean that much. The damage is already done. Just keep it in great condition and enjoy the gun. In 30 years or so it may (or may not) be worth a decent chuck of change. snapper
Re: Winchester Featherlite model 70 .300 WSM I agree with AJ...I was given a Winchester 94 Canadain cenntenial with an octagon barrel. Was my wife's grandmothers. She passed away and her grandfather gave me the gun. She shot it and even killed a doe with it. I have no intention of ever selling it...but realized that I can't really hurt the value of it by shooting it more. Shot it to see how it shot...took it out and took a doe with it. Put it away with that memory to pass on to my kids or another in the family.
Guest dmitchell28
Re: Winchester Featherlite model 70 .300 WSM wow thats a awesome story, I know how you feel, my grandfather handed me down a shed that i also plan to hand down to my children. If you dont have memories, you dont have much. I see where you guys are coming from with the shooting it thing, just everyone around here stressed to keep it in good shape and stuff
snapper
Re: Winchester Featherlite model 70 .300 WSM Yeah...you def. don't want to push brush with it if your planning it to be a "collector" gun. Although the gun is basically new...because it has been shot, the value goes down compared to a "New In the Box" gun. If you bought it with the intent to hunt it...then by all means hunt and start your own memories to hand down!
