Re: Your career

Nope, always wanted to be a farmer. Unfortunately times are tough on the family farm these days and the farm isn't big enough for dad and I so here I am. I own a house, a truck, a van, have 2 kids and we don't do without so I guess it's working out for now. These days, besdies the farm,....like many of us, I'd like to weasel into guiding or outfitting or something.

Re: Your career

As a chap, I always thought I would be the one to replace Marlin Perkins on Wild Kingdom. I know some of you older guys remember him. "I'll wait in the truck while Jim tackles and hog-ties that 8000 pound rhino". As I got older I had aspirations to work in wildlife biology or forestry. Got my B.S. in Biology but found out most people in those fields didn't make much more than a bagboy. Still sometimes regret choosing money(not that I make a lot now!) and convienence over dreams. Reality I guess.

Re: Your career

May attempts at being an American Gigilo or a Chippendales dancer have failed so I resorted to Information Technologies. laugh.gif

I wanted to be an attorney but I couldn't defend people that I know are guilty (so I could make the big bucks) nor could I make a living as a prosecutor (they don't get paid enough). Lastly, I didn't want to be a corporate attorney and end up working for some big company stuck in a cubicle all day.

So now, I work in IT......for a big company.....stuck in a cubicle all day. laugh.gif

I dunno, maybe it is the curse of reality. It seems that everyone here has or had aspirations to be something amazing and most here I would say ended up with a job instead of a career. Of course, I think businesses changed to eliminate most true career paths and decrease lengh of service starting in the 1990's.

Re: Your career

I had my "dream" job. I was a firefighter for the state of Michigan for 7 years. Then I blew my back out at work. I still work for the state but in Communications...I much rather back outdoors.

I didn't even think of becoming an attorney until middle of undergrad. Newarcher is right, I'm a prosecutor and I make a modest (downright low by lawyer standards) salary. The trade off is that I am part time and home with my kids (2&4) 2 days per week.

You are my favorite type of attorney.... blush.gifgrin.gif
