Re: dont hunt for yotes alone

I was calling a hotspot 2 winters ago and I seen a coyote come over a rise 1/2 mile away then another and another, in all 11 came over the rize, I looked to my side and one more was coming in from my left and behind me one more, 13 in all, I had the 2 within 50 yards but did not want to shoot till the pack of 11 were in, I had 13 coyotes within 200 yards of me and I was a bit worried lol, I mangad to get 3 should of got one more but I got a bit exited with them runnign every direction lol! as they were coming in I was thinking the same as you, I wish I had 10 buddies with me lol!!

Re: dont hunt for yotes alone

I've never called in more than two at a time when I'm with someone but I call in 3 or more at a time quite often when I'm alone. That makes for good shooting but it'd be better if you have someone to share the exitement with. My hunting buddy gets sick of my stories. I guess he just needs to get off the couch when it's cold and snowy.

The only time i hunt yotes is when i used to let the dog out and they would be in the backyard and the dog would growl and they would start up the yard then i would grab my 30-06 (i know it is kinda big for a yote) and drop one or two i would try to get more if it was day time but you can only see so far at night

Re: dont hunt for yotes alone

90% of the time I have to hunt alone. That doesn't mean that I'm completely comfortable with that. I generally have a blind spot (downwind) that I cannot effectively watch. I always get the thought, "what if one comes in from that direction?" I really try hard not to dwell on that thought too much....lol. I saw a huge coyote in the front lawn the other day that could certainly do some considerable damage if he became so inclined.

i hunt them alone almost always, at most i've seen is 3 at one time, never was worried, but as sureshot said 13 yotes well i might be a tad conserned...lol

youtes will flee humans fast, on the norm, i guess stranger things have happened, i never heard any storys of them attacking a human tho

Re: dont hunt for yotes alone

As spooky as coyotes are, as hard as they are to call, I don't think you'll have an issue. I wish they were more agressive, be easier to kill more of them!!!

I'm with JWCA, I put my thompson center in the safe and now opt for the AR. If I shoot straight I could get a tridectuplet!!! That might be some kind of record!
