A Nation Secure

The next time you pass through an airport and have to produce a photo ID to establish who you are and then must remove your shoes, take off your belt, empty your pockets, prove your laptop is not an explosive device and send your briefcase or purse through a machine to determine whether it holds weapons, think about this: In a single day, more than 4,000 illegal aliens will walk across the busiest unlawful gateway into the U.S., the 375-mile border between Arizona and Mexico. No searches for weapons. No shoe removal. No photo-ID checks. Before long, many will obtain phony identification...Despite all the talk of homeland security, sneaking into the U.S. is scandalously easy—and on the rise. Millions of illegal aliens will pour across the U.S.-Mexican border this year, many from countries hostile to America.

Re: A Nation Secure

Illegal immigration is definitely an issue, but completely stopping it is also a monumental task. There was some talk during the campaigns by both parties about what to do, but neither had a totally workable solution. I don't have one either, short of drastically militarizing the border and creating another "iron curtain". I goess it would be called the cactus curtain or something like that.

The best long term solution is to do whatever we can to improve the living and working conditions in Central America so the desire to cross illegally is reduced. Couple that with strict enforcement of labor laws on employers in this country who knowingly hire illegals, and quickly deport any and all that are found here and perhaps we would see some improvement.

Re: A Nation Secure

Didn't they have a wall between East and West Germany?

Everyone cheered when that wall came down.

I will admit that wall was for a different purpose.

The Mexicans are only taking jobs that I would not be willing to do.

They are not paying in any Social Security, so they will not be eligible to draw on it.

If they are willing to work for meager wages, doesn't that make the American Farmer profit?

Many aliens pour into this country legally every year poised as college students, and take pilot training etc., and they turn out to be terrorists.

I think every one of the terrorists involved in 9/11 got into our country legally, but that did not stop them from completing the task they had in their minds.

Most of the crop pickers are certainly not terrorists.

Maybe our Homeland Security should start in the colleges , universities, and training schools.

just because you wouldnt do the work dosnt mean someone else wouldnt, somthing needs to be done about the problem, and it needs to be sooner than later. But i dont see that happining soon since the republicans prob like the 80% of the hispanic vote they get. Compairing a wall between mexico and the US to the berlkin wall is apples to oranges. you sound like a guy who has his own personal crew of mexicans on hand. for the american farmer to make a profit he has to employ scabs?? i dont think so my cousins make plenty of money using legal labor and hard work, somthing everyopne should get a does of now and then, make them thankful for what they have.

I think we are loseing hunting and fishing lands fast enough, i dont like the thought of losing more of it so some scab can live and make my doller. Besides the money they make dosnt even go back into our economy it gets sent down to the siesta. thanks but no thanks. Anyone who thinks we should keep the borders open are no better than the scabs they are supporting.

If Americans worked the farms instead of illegal aliens America would be better off! As a people we are becoming a bunch of lazy, air conditioned, big mac eatin, arrogant, slobs. I have worked with mexicans in construction, they can outwork just about any Native born American I've ever seen! This problem is not theirs, it's ours! I am for border control if for no other reason than I think we really need to improve our own work ethic.

[/ QUOTE ]

I have worled with them and brazilians, i have no problem working circles around them and most of time we spent was fixing there screw ups/negl. ive watched them piss in the basments of unfinished homes. I agree that americans should get there work ethics going, but at the same time its hard to get hired when aliens can get under the minumum wage laws. Ive been denied jobs because they could get a mexican to do the work for 2 bucks an hour

Re: A Nation Secure

From what I heard, they are drawing social security now, even though they didn't pay any in over here. mad.gif

In my line of work, I can work them into the ground. They spend most of the time screwing off, and when you tell them to get thier act together, they think they want to fight you. But I put a stop to that right away by getting right in thier face. They know I have a low tolerance for b.s.

Immigration needs to do a roundup. And, if they come over here anyways, just start taxing them the same as the rest of us, and stop this tax amnesty garbage. That would balance the budget, and probably make them start to realize that it's not a picnic over here. Pay your way, or go back home. mad.gif

Re: A Nation Secure

Not sure your point her sluggo. Guess you are comparing security in regards to illegal aliens crossing the borders with that of securing planes from terrorist hijackers who might try to blow em up or crash em into buildings crazy.gif?

Guess some folks maybe pretty worried about Mexicans coming across the border to take jobs they would not want.

Just because they come in from Mexico doesn't mean they are from Mexico. I wasn't going to pay the subscription fee for the whole article, but there isn't just Mexicans crossing the border, Europeans, Arabs and whoever. The point is this, while the Bush Admin is busy securing airports and failing, cause, lets face it, how often do you hear of someone getting something on a plane, whether intentional or accidental that could enable someone to take over the plane, if just one of those 4000 crossing over had a biological weapon or something else that is supposedly in Iraq. The gravest threat is on our own continent, not half a world away.

So we were wrong when we went to war in Iraq on intelligence they had WMD but we should maybe be shooting Mexicans as they cross the border on the off chance they got a nuclear missile duct taped to thier back grin.gifI sure dont understand your line of thinking sometimes confused.gif

They're not gonna use another danged plane cause that's what we're expecting, if they have all these missing WMD's, dirty bombs that can be smuggled in a suitcase or whatever, how hard do you think it will be to get it across the border. The only reason they haven't used another plane is because they haven't tried, almost everyday you hear of someone getting on an airplane with a knife, gun, or something else.

Yes, we were wrong to go to war in Iraq on faulty WMD intelligence, even Bush admitted the intelligence was wrong but no one on here is gonna admit that. Once again, if you had read the whole post I had put up, I am not worried about Mexicans either and never suggested we should be shooting them as they run across, but Mexico has virtually no immigration laws, which means everybody and anybody can get in, including terrorists who hate this country and find it very easy to get across the border where there are unmanned security towers, how big does a dirty bomb have to be, not very big, how big does a biological weapon have to be to tote across, not very big, heck, they don't even have to bring any weapons, they can get what they need in this country to do the job, remember Tim McVeigh, all he had was fertilizer and a u-haul. The next time you say you can't understand my thinking, maybe yuou guys shoud stop and think once in a while, like I said, the greatest threat is on this continent, not half a world away in a cave or a hole in the ground.

Re: A Nation Secure

Yes, I think we need to do everything we can to increase our border security, but that only goes so far. To eliminate the threat of international terrorism, we've got to remove the source of their manpower, funding and arms. That happens to be in the middle east at this time. THATS why I approve of our operations in Afghanistan, Iraq and <insert the next target of opportunity here>...

Sure do buddy, he was not a mexican either. Only goes to show we got plenty of crazy people in our country now, and they can even be American born and bred.

Sure we need tighter border control, but you were comparing security of that to airplanes. Do you really think that if these terrorists thought they could get on a plane again they would not try it? That would be terribly naive.
