Guest dmitchell28
I have always wanted to try taxidermy. I am very artistic, and things like that always just came natural. I have did things from etching scenery on tombstombs (lots of deer scenes too), did tattoos, and draw and paint all the time. So i was just wondering how, where, and what would i do to get involved in taxidermy. Plus if i did my own work, dang would it save me some moolaa
IowaDeerHunter
Re: getting into taxidermy Well just find something to do and go for it. I was told a pheasant was the easiest to start out with, but I thought it sucked, so I started with a deer head. And then did a turkey breast mount and some fan mounts. I took a big step and did a full body coyote. I was nervous about doing it but the only way to learn is to dig in and do it.
Guest dmitchell28
Re: getting into taxidermy you did what i always say...go big or dont go at all. and let me be one of the obvious many to tell you that you did a heck of a job on that coyote. I was impressed, heck it wanted me to do it more and more. I just want to know where i get good teachings, good intstructional books, the equipment, the hardware...ya know. just point me in the right direction
