need2hunt
I've had a few people ask so I thought I'ld go ahead and clear this up with everyone. You need to have 50 or more posts to participate. That means that you have to have 50 posts by the end of the sign-up deadline of Sept 15. So if you are currently -50 you can still sign-up as long as your planning to have 50 or more by EOD Sept 15. If you sign-up and don't get 50 posts by the deadline I will have to drop you out of the contest. Hope this clears it up a little bit, if the waters still a bit muddy just ask me about it here and I'll try to get you a better answer. WaCoyote
Re: ** 50 Post Rule Should be 150 posts. That will clear out the people who arent serious. On every contest I get stuck with people who "forgot they entered" "forgot to take a picture" or just plain dissappeared after signing up. You can't eliminate them but the 50 post min. is a starting point.

He didn't have to change anything but he listen to us and did what a majority of us asked for. Gary, keep up the great work that you do! HitRmisS
Re: ** 50 Post Rule I think its a good idea as well, but i noticed a couple already that signed up and dont meet the 50 post minimum, that just shows they probally wont be into the contest very much considering they didnt bother to read the rules
sskybnd
Re: ** 50 Post Rule well i have, and i'm one of the people that talked to him, i understand whey there is a 50 post rule some, people jump on than off, but i was on the outdoors forum, when i was looking for something by realtree and i seen this forum, so im doing my best to get there by that time than again if i dont make it i dont, but this gets me closer

bugleward
Re: ** 50 Post Rule Hey Guys: My 2 cents worth. I have been a member here for 6 to 8 years not sure really. I do not have 50 posts I am sure. I have donated hunts to Realtree and to PCBA because of Realtree. I wonder if we are sending the right message to newcomers by being exclusionary. It gives the forums an apearance of elitism. Not that I am upset about the rules that exclude me. However I would have maybe gotten in just for fun. My goal is and has been to try to include as many newcomers to the sport as possible and make it as fun for everyone as it can be. Best of luck to all of you though. I really would like to see the results of the contest. The next hunts I will be giving away will be to a youth and a partner for 2 or 4 different couples. I just wonder how all of those in that category would feel if I excluded them because they have not shot 50 or even 1 deer or antelope. Just my thoughts on that guys. WaCoyote
Re: ** 50 Post Rule Turkeyward. The problem is that casual surfers sign up but never post results which in turn hurts their teammates. Every contest I've been in has had 2-5 teammates who forget they even entered. "oh, I didn't take a pic" "oh, I threw away my tag" on and on and on. In last years deer contest we had two guys on my team who just "forgot" to take a picture of their deer. My team lost by one point. Had one of those two guys been serious enough to take there teammates into consideration we would have won. The contest is supposed to be for fun but it is a contest. By definition contests are to be won or lost, but TEAMMATES need to do their part. If they don't get a deer it's ok, but to get a deer and just let everyone else down because you forgot you entered is just plain inconsiderate. It takes the fun out of an otherwise great contest. I don't think the 50 post rule is exclusionary at all. It's just a starting point to see if the people who registered are even remotely serious. How would you feel if you donated a hunt to a couple who didn't show up or showed no appreciation? That would be a bummer wouldn't it? You'd probably then find a way to donate a hunt ONLY to those that are serious about it. Would that then be exclusionary? Not in my book. I am on the sight everyday but I dont think I should have to have that many post. I add my pics for eveyone to see but Your asking for pointless post anyone can come on and post nice pic 150 times just to get in.I dont know if this comes across the right way. I agree I dont want some one on my team who forgets about it. maybe there is a better way like maybe a weekly checkin for the contest. wtnhunt
Re: ** 50 Post Rule Have to agree with wacoyote, if anyone is serious about entering the 50 post rule is not all that hard for a new user to overcome. Thanks for implementing this new rule this year Gary, and thanks again for doing such a great job with the contest.
Guest Finn
Re: ** 50 Post Rule Thanks for the new rule. This contest is for members of the Realtree forum. I don't feel you're a member if you have less than 50 posts. I hope the ones I see posting now just to get their 50 in for the contest stick around to post after the contest. Would rather see fewer teams of people who are here than a zillion teams of people with 51 posts. Of course, this is just my humble opinion and I certainly could be wrong. They are the ones who ruin it for the 50 and under posters that actually would contribute. We can not just keep leting it go because it gets old, and somehow has to be stopped. Just my .02. Tom2008
Re: ** 50 Post Rule I like this rule a lot. Last year's contest was the first one I entered and I know for sure I had well over 200 posts and I joined this a little sooner then when the contest started. I have been around ever since and I mean why would you even want to not hang around here it is a great place to be! Ok, but getting back on to the topic of people just saying they were going to join the contest and end up not even showing up for it. My team last contest had about 4 people who did that. I was put with a lot of dedicated members to the site also though like Rhino, Canuck2, Snapper, smallmunster and KTMMIKE. We were the only ones who really kept in touch with the team. I think there were 10 people per team last year. 6/10 to particapate is ok, but it could have been better. This rule will probably allow those numbers to go up and have an even better turn out then last year! P.S. Thanks Gary for the great contest you do an awsome job running this one! hunterfisherman
Re: ** 50 Post Rule fifty post is real easy to get. All you have to do is put your two cents in on a couple of post each day and your there in no time. I haven't been on to long and I'm nearing 500 post. I like the rule and it will help the guys that have put in their time and helped make this forum a very good place to be. Besides it's not our given right to have this contest. If someone is willing to put it together and run it and they set up a set of rules the that's that. If we want to participate then we need to follow the rules.
