fisherguy
Apparently this will be my standard issue sidearm. I have never owned or shot a handgun. Any opinions on this gun, tips on shooting? Obviously there will be a lot of time at the academy spent in the range getting training, but any advice would be appreciated. hangunnr
Re: Sig Sauer P229 .40 cal Congrats on the new job! I haven't spent any quality time with a Sig229. Sorry. Just listen to your instructor. I'm sure they'll teach you the basics. There are advanced clinics offered such as Thunder Ranch that can teach you advanced technique. hangunnr
snapper
Re: Sig Sauer P229 .40 cal I never shot a Sig 229 myself...however, Sigs are good guns, so I wouldn't worry about that part. I agree with gunnr, listen to your instructor and keep an open mind.
Guest ILBrad
Re: Sig Sauer P229 .40 cal Sigs are great guns, and I really like the .40 caliber round. Id say you got a winner. But like they said, you will get good training at the academy, so enjoy and learn a lot!

Strut10
Re: Sig Sauer P229 .40 cal I've run a few mags through a 229 .40 S&W. It was heavier than I like and I thought it cost more than it should have. But, it's a nice shooting pistol.
Guest ruffhunter
Re: Sig Sauer P229 .40 cal When I could carry my own, it was one of the first P229's. Now I am ISSUED a Glock 22. It sucks!!! The P229 in 40 I had was the most accurate sidearm I ever shot. Always a nice, small group after several drills. I miss it.
