IowaDeerHunter
Is it true they are getting rid of the penny? I have heard this before and now am starting to hear about it again. I do not think it would ever be possible to go without a penny, unless they rounded everything down, or it would actually have to round up. Anybody else know any truth about this? slugshooter
Re: Throwing out the penny??? That's about the only way to do without the penny, they'd have to make everything an even number. Me personally, I say get rid of it, apparently it costs more to make them then they are worth, plus, they take up too much space in my coin jar for the more important coins like quarters. That's why I started up separate jars. Almost forgot, there would have to be some 5's in there also, unless they got rid of the nickel also, I say get rid of that one too, they take up too much space also. SUGARKAHNE
Re: Throwing out the penny??? I think it's a good idea. I mean, everyone has a load of pennies at home because they never use them. Most people usually will round off a purchase to the nearest dollar anyway to avoid having to count out exact change. Nick
Re: Throwing out the penny??? I have heard it too and the reason is that it costs more to produce the penny than what the penny is actually worth.

Jeramie
Re: Throwing out the penny??? I doubt it. I could see it happening eventually but right now 100 pennies still = $1. They are still used far to much IMHO.
spyderpancake
Re: Throwing out the penny??? I say get rid of pennies and round everything to end in a 5 or 0. I wonder if you could melt down pennies and sell them for scrap metal and make a profit?
