Hoyt03
I recently got a few unfilled shooting rest bags that require sand. What do you fill these with? I tried some regular old sand but it didnt seem right, I think I need some diff kind. What do you use to fill these with and where do you get it? AJ
Re: Sand for bench rests? I use this stuff from Sinclair. And to steal their tip: Add some talcum powder to the sand to make it flow more freely into the bags. The sand must be dry.

snapper
Re: Sand for bench rests? I use the cheap route...went to Lowe's and bought some "play" sand for a kids sand box. I really didn't have any troubles filling my bags...just a little time.

VTbowman
Re: Sand for bench rests? I dug out some sand from the kids sand box and baked it in the oven to dry it out completely. It was bought from Toy-R-Us for thier box not just some stuff I dug out of the ground. Works good for me...

Guest beartracks
Re: Sand for bench rests? If you use sand you want to get "mason's sand" which is used in mortar mixes. Its cheap, and flows much, much better than play sand. Its really ideal in regards to having the right weight, and eliminating any bounce or movement of your firearm.
