Re: Any RN\'s on the forums?

My brother is in nursing school right now. He wants to work in the ER in South FL somewhere where there is a trauma unit. The pay is outstanding down there compared to here.

I had entertained the thought of being a nurse as well. I even enrolled in the school. But once I found out that everyone had to do their internship at the local nursing home......... crazy.gif I quickly changed my mind. smirk.gif

I work with tons of RN's at the hospital and some of them say that if the boards were not that hard for them that they should have gone on to being a PA. My wife is an LPN, my MIL is an LPN, my SIL is a RN and my BIL is a Dr. I just work Security and I like that just fine. I only get to deal with the meth heads and drunks. No wiping butts for me. Go as far as you can and keep going now so you don't feel like you didn't do what you could have done years down the road.

I have some buddies that went into that career field, be prepared, be very prepared. The courses you will take will be demanding and almost to the point where you might have to miss out on some hunting time. Its tough when they went into their clinical part of it, demanding and they seem to be studying all the time and some said having a job at the same time was almost impossible. Then again they wanted good grades and I respect that.

One friend said the math was overwelming, she seemed to forget that math is involved with knowing the right dose's and dealing with conversions and such.

I stuck with engineering, it pays the bills nicely and its demanding at times but nowhere near what people in the medical field have to deal with daily, peoples lives are involved so being very knowledgeable is a must!

Good luck if you decide to go into it.
