Re: Ive lost all hope for the future....

In the real world, not our man made one, all of the stupid people would suffer an early death. As long as we allow our children to grow up with no work ethic and no real reason to learn or think for themselves we are setting the stage for failure. I deal with the "public" every day at work and the level of stupidity seems to be increasing at an alarming rate.

“Can I get $2 of that back in quarters please?” She says, “I guess so.”

I can already see that little hamster starting to run full speed while she tries to calculate $2 in quarters and the change that would be left in $200. Its not computing so she tells me, “Quarters only come in $10 rolls.” Because I could see a potential problem I figured id just stop by sonic for a drink and get some change there, “That’s to much, that’s ok.” She smiles and happily counts out $190 and then lays a $10 roll of quarters on top. Honestly it would have been like pulling teeth to get that $10 bill back so I back away from the counter and head home. I need to wash my truck and such anyway.

Man you gave up too easily - I think the reason stuff like this happens is that we allow it to happen. She works at a bank for the Love Of Peter Jenkins!!!! I would not have left the counter until she got it right... I know it is awfully painful sometimes to deal with people like this, but there is no hope if we just settle for mediocrity (or far less than mediocrity in this case!)...

Gotta agree with the doc here. Would you accept that from him???? Unfortunately, if we don't demand better when treated that way, we are also part of the problem. frown.gif

Re: Ive lost all hope for the future....

I had a Jeremie experience tonight.....I stopped by the pizza place on the way home to pick the family up some pie. The kid that was working was obviously 16-17 years old, I think his dad owns the place. Anyway, he informed me that my total was $12.00, and I handed him a twenty and 2 singles, $22.00. He looked at me funny, went back to the cash register, came back over to me and said, "Your total was only $12.00, but you gave me $22.00?" I told him that he could give me a $10.00 bill for change...he looked at me as if my skin was melting off. The wheels were turning upstairs, real fast, but he was getting no where. I did the math out loud for him, and it finally clicked. A smile and a $10 bill later, I headed home.
