Turkeygirl
I've been leaning towards getting a Reflex Excursion as my new bow because between here and ArcheryTalk.com, I've heard mostly good things about the bow. Thing is I've heard a few bad things, like hand shock(what is that) and some guy on archerytalk said it isn't any betetr than my old Mystic Rebel which I think isn't true because my bow is old and heavy and a pain in the butt. Look up a Hoyt Mysic Rebel and you'll see why, lol. I want to stay under $400 which included a new sight and release. I haven't found a shop yet that has a Reflex to try out. I do have one or 2 more places to check out, but would it be horrible if I have to order the Reflex without trying it, or does anyone have any other suggestions for other bows? I have a 25/26" draw and my draw weight is 40-50 pounds. Thanks from a desperate female hunter, lol
Tominator
Re: Ugh-Need some help Hand shock is the vibration that is transmitted through the riser to your hand when you release. Some designs are better than others like the Mathews puts those dampners all over the riser, and cable roller. To be honest, my Legacy has almost zero shock, and I know the Trykon has very low shock too. As long as you don't shoot those high dollar bows, you'll never know the difference. Reflex is a quality bow. If it's in your price range, go for it.

magnatecsteve
Re: Ugh-Need some help The whole Reflex line seems to be all good bows, just shoot them and see which you like best. I wouldn't bee too concerned with the hand shock, like already stated, unless you shoot a bow without shock, it's hard to tell. I shot a Magnatec, and am looking at different bows. I went and shot the Trykon and also a Ross bows. There is no shock to those bows, so my Magnatec seems totally different now. Good luck. I think you would be happy with a Reflex, it should perform alot different than your Mystic Rebel.
Guest always_ruttin
Re: Ugh-Need some help you need to look at the latest issue of field and stream they did a bow comparison between six bows, mainly high dollar but they have a Reflex Highlander and Fred Bear Instinct. They stack up like this: Instinct 75% letoff 31" axle to axle 7 1/2" brace height 258 fps, at 66 lbs., 28" $400 Highlander 65 or 75% letoff 36" axle to axle 7 1/4" brace height 268 fps, at 64 lbs., 29" $350 I thought that this comparison might help you decide. The Highlander tested faster but he also remarked that it was considerably longer and had a lot of hand shock. He guaranteed you would need a good stabilizer. AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Ugh-Need some help To get rid of handshock you could add an STS and other dampening aids to the bow. Go to Reflex's web site and they should be able to show you a dealer. I know Dick's Sporting Goods handles them too, as well as Cabela's and Bass Pro. Shoot one to make sure you can live with it. When they mean hand shock its not something that is going to knock the bow out of your hand. You may feel some and with the right dampening devices it could take it down to zero. As for the Reflex and the Instinct, that Instinct is also sweet and a deal at $400.00! I think they have those bows are Gander Mountain or a Duhmans. Good luck in your search, you are doing your homework and that is great!
Turkeygirl
Re: Ugh-Need some help Thanks for the tips guys, I appreciate it. With the bow I'm currently shooting, I think the Reflex would probably be like heaven to me,lol. the expensive bows are nice, but I would be just as happy with a decent yet inexpensive bow. Hopefully this weekend I can get out to a shop and see if they have any:)

The expensive bows are nice that is for sure but a person should not go broke trying to bowhunt. A Reflex is a great bow for the money! Congrats if you get one, you will be happy! LifeNRA
Re: Ugh-Need some help My nephew and I went to shoot some bows last week. He shot about four different bows, he liked the Parker Buck Hunter. Which really surprised me, because it is a 50-60 pound bow with an adjustable draw length from 26-31 inches. This bow costs $359, which includes bow, sight, rest, and a quiver. Some of the other bows would cost about another $150 to arm it with all the goodies. Even my bow was a package deal, but then its out of your suggested price range. Good luck!
