buckee
OK, I pulled the film from 2 game-cams down on Don's farm yesterday (Friday), and was pretty disappointed to say the least. Out of 48 possible pictures, I only got a handful. read about it here: http://www.realtree.com/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/1004342/an/0/page/0#Post1004342 Then today (Saturday) I was really excited to check out my edge-of-the-swamp-Cam down on the other property, because last Tuesday, I checked it after just 2 nights and it had 7 pics on it. I get in there today, and was stumped. There my Game-cam, hanging on the tree side-ways, one latch busted, and wide open. I thought for sure a bear must have done this, but now, I am completely stumped. Here are the pictures, in order as they were taken. I left out a few insignifigant ones in between. This is the last picture taken, before the camera was opened up. There was another one after it was opened, but just branches and the tree trunk on that one. WHAT THE HECK IS THIS THING ???? slughunter
Re: Mystery Guest on Game-Cam im not sure what that thing is, I almost wonder if its a racoon, Does BC have racoons? I know, stupid questions. those latches break pretty easy, if you wrap the strap around the front of the camera, you shouldent have problems with it, thats what I do, my top latch is broken on my stealth cam. it needs to be a skinny tree though -shane

buckee
Re: Mystery Guest on Game-Cam [ QUOTE ] I'm still thinking bear. [/ QUOTE ] There is lots of bears in there, but It looks like a Baboon's butt to me James..LOL. I wish I had a clue. What ever it was, it must have approached from the side, and not the front. The film only had 13 exposures, but I pulled it anyway, because I wanted to see what went after the camera. That doesn't even look like fur ??? Well, I've got a brand new roll of 24/400 in there, so we'll see if our mystery guest shows it's face.
OJR
Re: Mystery Guest on Game-Cam I think the intruder is someone who doesn't want you taking pictures! Like a human! Looks like some kind of a jacket or sweater! I would try a different, more concealed place for the camera and see what happens. Next time, he might take the camera though! gitcha_some
Re: Mystery Guest on Game-Cam the hair looks too short to be a bear imo...i think its a coat of a trespasser , or a coon

It's only held on the tree with a bungee cord? It's also too warm for coats here right now. I'm trying to picture it being a coon, but, I can't. The pink parts have be baffled. The only pink on a bear is the inside of it's mouth.
Buckslayer
Re: Mystery Guest on Game-Cam I'd guess bear too... just looks like black bear fur to me. I've seen several photos like this before of a bear. But who knows.
Guest MikeWinters
Re: Mystery Guest on Game-Cam do what i do have cameras watching camera. so if something sneaks up on one and u dont know what it is another camera will get a clear shot. good for security
Guest Buck Magnet 007
Re: Mystery Guest on Game-Cam I gotta agree with James, it looks like a bear to me. I have had this same thing happen to me on several occasions and each time it was a bear that did it. When the bear is that close to the camera it is really hard to distinguish what part of the bear it is and the detail isn't really there. If I had to guess on what part of the bear it is, I would probablly say that it is the ear!
buckee
Re: Mystery Guest on Game-Cam Ken and I have been looking at this photo, all afternoon, and I have come to the conclusion that it is a velveted deer antler, with some velvet coming off (thus the pink). I think that buck is tried to rub his velvet off on my camera. This is the time of the year here, when they start losing their velvet too. After looking at it again, I think it is an antler and the velvet is split! Get the camera back out there and see if you can get a close-up of that antler! Ravin R10 man
Re: Mystery Guest on Game-Cam I gotta go with an antler too..just too smooth, and not black enough to be a bear
wtnhunt
Re: Mystery Guest on Game-Cam OK Steve, one question. How high on the tree is that camera. Looks to me like it is looking down on the deer and probably about 4 feet high. Dont think it is a person or a jacket or a sweater. Looks to me like in the right side there is blood. Maybe blood on a velvet antler or maybe blood on the inside of a bears ear. My guess would be abear from the height that I am assuming the camera is set at and that it is the inside of its ear that is pictured. buckee
Re: Mystery Guest on Game-Cam Yeah, it's about 3-1/2 to 4' William. I really think it is antlers we're looking at now. It explains the non-hairlike texture of it, and the pink.
