Homemade elevated tower blinds... whos got pics!

I saw a picture Finn posted in another thread of a wood tower blind he built. I have been planning to build one the last few years, just have never started it.

Who has pictures of ones they have built? Something you could still shoot a bow out of. Trying to get ideas of how I want to build mine.

Here is a 6 x 6, 6 feet tall I built a few years ago. Used square metal tubing. Best advice I can give you is to draw out your plan on paper before you start.

This blind is plenty big enough to take the kids and big enough that I have been able to comfortably draw and shoot my bow from it. Anyways, here is a series of pics pretty well from start to finish.

Here is mine. I dont have plans per say, but you can see the construction.

Its a 4x8x6 on a 6 foot high base.

1x2 side windows and a 1x6 front window.

Base and box frame are all welded and then bolted together for easier transport and assembly/disassembly.

I used 1.5x1.5 steel tubing.

I then just use 1/4" OSB and self tapping screws with a cordless drill and nut driver.

Tin for the roof.

i spent about 60$ total on this. made it from the scrap wood section at home depot and from some old used camo bought from a surplus store. best money i ever spent.

I should get some pictures from the inside for you guys to check out. This stand was built as a gift for my grandpa, so he can hunt as long as he lives. 12' off the ground, built atop a 30' hill overlooking two food plots. Comes complete with cedar siding, shingled roof and marvin windows.

James, that's nicer than my house. That's great that your Grandpa can still hunt. We had one like that for an older buddy and he hunted until he was 85, with a crossbow.

It now has a stove heater, with exhaust vent. Two recliners, one of which is leather, the other is jsut like a lazy boy, shelves for storing binoculars, bullets, etc. My sister shot her first buck out of that stand last year with my dad and my grandpa both at her side. I used to have a portable located about 40' up the whitepine you see coming into the picture on the left. I've since moved due to lack of seniority. lol

We've got 2. Built one on Labor Day weekend and my Dad shot a buck out of it on the 2nd of Nov. The other we put up in June of this year, so will be the first season using them.

I'd say, the sooner the better. grin.gif

You could build one now, but I wouldn't suggest throwing it out into the middle of a field. Build it into the surrounding cover. I've since built a new ground blind, I should go take some pictures of that one for you guys. 4x4x6 made out of 3/4" plywood. It should work pretty slick.
