Between keeping dry socks on your feet, and these warmers...

[/ QUOTE ]

I always change my socks once I get to my stand. I actually let my feet dry before I put on dry socks made of wool! My boot are 1000 grams of thinsulate. If the temps really drop down, Ill use them boot warmers that are air activated. Then I got to worry about them sweating again!

Re: How can I keep my feet from freezing?

Feet get cold because as temperature to an area of the body decreases, so does blood flow... that's when you get the nice tingly toes or fingers... eventually it moves up into the whole foot or whole hand. To fix your problem you can do several things. First, move to a warmer state (just kidding), change socks like many of the posts have stated... Make sure there is plenty of room in your boots, consider inserts that will hold "hot hands". Swamp hunters post is correct also, consider going to a local medical supply store and buying compression stockings, they force blood flow back out of the extremeties and encourage blood flow resulting in prolonged warmth. Best of luck.

I recently bought me a pair of 800 gram Rocky boots. On my way to the tree stand my feet sweet to where it gets my socks wet and then my feet freeze the rest of the day. Does anyone have any tricks to help me.

800 grams isn't enough to keep your feet warm when its near or below freezing & you're sitting for a long period of time. I have a pair of 1200 gram boots & Cabelas now makes a 2,000 gram pair of scent free rubber boots. They work & to keep your feet from sweating sprinkle some unscented powder in your socks and on your feet before you put your boots on. The powder will keep your feet dry & from sweating. And oh yeah you can put some of the tostie toe foot warmers in your boots as well.

Re: How can I keep my feet from freezing?

I always have problems with my feet getting cold when sitting on stand forever. I have 2 pairs of WigWam Coolmax liners that work pretty good, they wick away moisture, then I have a pair of woolblend socks over those. Also this year I got a pair of Lacross winter boots with thick, felt like liners in them. Let me tell you my feet haven't froze in them yet. I have found that my feet do not stay warm on stand in thinsulate, not sure if not thick enough but you could try sock liners and some wool socks or a different boot or get some of those Hot hand warmer things that you unwrap and the begin to heat up. Those work great and get my feet warm even if they are frozen first grin.gif

Put anti-persperant (sp?) on your feet to keep them from sweating. I have a pair of boots from Orvis that I absolutely love! The inserts really hold in the heat and when I add a couple pair of socks it is heaven! LOL I hunt in Maine and haven't had a problem with frozen toes since I started wearing them.

Re: How can I keep my feet from freezing?

Here is what I have to do. My feet sweat too much in boots and there is no amount of grams that will fix that. liner socks don't work for me. 100% wool socks don't work for me either. Now try this...I use a Wal-mart plastic sack on each foot before my socks and my feet stay toasty all day in the stand or in zero degree weather in the goose pit. I have 800 gr boots too. The bag keeps the moisture in so your socks can stay dry and do their work. Try it and see what you think!

Re: How can I keep my feet from freezing?

SMO, Heres what I have come up with over the years:

I found that most of my boots were too small...they fit just fine with some regular socks...added the extra layers for warmth and presto...frozen feet.

Come to find out that while my intentions were good(layering of socks), my technique of cutting down the bodys natural anti-freeze(Blood) was making my feet cold.

Simple solution....I bought boots that were 2 sizes larger than my normal shoe size.

Probably thinking that my feet were sliding around in there, and they do without all the socks on, but the extra socks also made it more comfortable by adding more cushion.

The boots were RedHead 1000 gram Thinsulate Bone-Dry Boots.

Another reason for cold feet that I found out in the past few years was the level of the front of my treestand seat.

Thats right...keep thinking about the bodys natural anti-freeze and geuss what a high seat front does to circulation in the back of your legs.

Remember to keep the angle of your knees at 90 degrees.

I like someones suggestion to keep your boot tops open allowing your feet to remain cooler on the trip into your stand........but even if that works and your feet dont sweat at all.....if your boots dont allow proper circulation your feet are still going to freeze in a short period of time. You could try not cinching the tops so tight after getting there....just suggestions..good luck.

My father actually uses vaseline on his feet.....EEEEWWWWW grin.gif....strange but true.
