Guest gt2003
From what I've seen, all of the new muzzleloaders are using 209 primers. I wouldn't mind having a new muzzleloader but I absolutely don't want a 209 primer ignition system. I currently use the knight wolverine with a #11 cap and loose 777 powder. I've never had a problem with it so don't see much need to change. So, 2 questions: 1. Do you think the #11 cap and possibly even the musket cap will become things on the past? 2. Will the manufacturers come out with some "middle of the road" mass production ignition system (like the precision rifle .25 acp) that will be hotter than caps but have much less fouling than the 209 primers? Once that happens then I might buy a new ML but as of now I'm sticking with what works. One more thing. Are there nipples for the knight wolverine ML that take musket caps instead of the #11's? If I change anything, this would probably be it. But, I don't know if they are available. Thanks, Greg
ZooBear
Re: Am I the only one still using the #11 caps? Im still using #11s on my Knight as well. I also use them on 5 sidelocks I own. The only problem I have ever had is when I switched to musket caps on one of my sidelocks. I went back to #11s.
hunterfisherman
Re: Am I the only one still using the #11 caps? I switched two years ago. I had a little trouble with my #11's and went out and both a new TC
AJ
Re: Am I the only one still using the #11 caps? I have not used #11 caps since 1999. As of now, I have no intention of using them again.
RangerClay
Re: Am I the only one still using the #11 caps? I have a T/C Renegade. Some years back I missed the biggest doe I have ever seen because the tiny #11 misfired. I upgraded to the musket cap with a tiny sprinkle of powder under the nipple. I have NEVER had a misfire since. Ranger

wtnhunt
Re: Am I the only one still using the #11 caps? I switched back to percussion caps from shotgun primers, they seem to work fine with my tc black diamond.
Gator
Re: Am I the only one still using the #11 caps? I went to 209's when I started using pellets, and after buying a whole bunch, pointless to go back to #11's
too_pointer
Re: Am I the only one still using the #11 caps? I haven't had a problem with the 209"s. They may not be the best, but for me they are working fine with the 777. For the few shots I fire, the crud is easy to clean LOL too_
