Hmmm....this might hurt

So I have this 2 small stupid plantar warts and my mom decides we should try the wart remover thing that freezes, so at Walmart the other day, we got the Wartner one. I'm going to take a shower then try it on one of the warts. The directions say "aching, itching, tingling sensation"; I think oh great! lol grin.gif Here's to hoping I don't freeze half my foot off,lol I think it is pretty much as good as frostbiting your foot. Anyone else tried it?

Re: Hmmm....this might hurt

Ruth,

Back when I was in my early 20's, I worked on the booming ground(log sorting grounds), and wore rubber Cork-boots all day long. I'd get my feet wet almost every day on the job, and after a while it took it's toll on my feet. I got a bad case of planters warts.

I tried the wart removal stuff too, but to no avail. It just made them worse. I went to the doctor and had them burned off twice, but each time they came back, bigger and worse than before. I finally ended up going in for surgery, and basically getting the bottom of my feet burned off. It wasn't fun, I'll tell ya, and very painful to boot.

Take my advice and go get them burned off by the doctor, before they start spreading and getting unmanageable. You'll be glad you did.

I let mine go too long and thought I could take care of them myself.

Planters warts are a bit different than a regular wart, because they honeycomb into your foot, instead of rising mostly above the surface like a regular wart.

Re: Hmmm....this might hurt

Steve is right. I picked up some from a Camp Ground shower years back (according to the doc). Note:Always wear flip flops in the shower!

Anyway, they spread like crazy when you try to take care of them yourself. I cut, froze with the same product, bled, etc.... They only got worse and began to cover the bottom of a couple of toes. I was seeing a dermatologist at the time and even he was at a loss on what to do.

My suggestion is to go have them taken off while there is only a few. If you cut and freeze those things can go haywire and then youll have real problems.

I literally had to wait out their life span. It took a couple of years before they went away on their own. Trust me, that trip to the dermatologist is far worth it at this point!

Did you know the cure for Warts is Duct Tape. Just recently on the news. Just cut a square of tape off and it keeps the oxygen away. Look it up.

Tried this before, caused a bit of skin irritation. The doctor strongly suggested not doing this. Have used the dr scholls freeze away product before, and it does not work very well. Having a doctor freeze them off is uncomfortable, but not really painful.

Re: Hmmm....this might hurt

I get them from time to time. I had one in high school on my big toe. I basically pulled it out, and sanded it off on my front porch. It eventually went away.

About 10 years ago I developed one on my right heel. It took the doctor over 3 years to get rid of it. he froze it for 1 year every 3 weeks, then finally tried something called bleomyacin (sp?), which apparently some sort of chemotherapy. I now have a little dimple where that wart used to be.

About a year ago, I developed 3 more warts. One on the ball of my foot, one on the end of a toeand one on the outside of my foot. I got the freeze away stuff and it kept them small, but didn't cure them. I had a buddy at work tell me about the duct tape thing so I thought "nothing to lose." so I tried it. Believe it or not, 2 of those warts were gone in about a month. I have a tough time keeping the tape on the tip of the toe, so I'm having trouble getting that one to go away. You have to keep it completely covered constantly, but eventually they just went away.

The duct tape thing works. cool.gif
