doubleA
....... and was able to shoot the Rem 700 LVSF in 223 Rem I bought several months ago. I have read a few post on this particular rifle wanting to know more so this is what I did today. I wanted a short handy rugged varminter for a truck gun so I decided to get a LVSF and top it off with a fixed 12X Leupold. I have fired a total of 12 shots through it and it seems that there is hope for it to become a shooter. I was lazy and decided to shoot some store bought UltraMax "remanufactured ammo, a 40 gr Nosler BT load. The factory trigger on thus gun is just terrible to say the least as I am used to triggers from a few ounces to 2-3 lbs. Probably pushing the scale at around 7 lbs this trigger felt like pulling a S&W double action M29 trigger. Considering the bad trigger and a off the shelf load the gun did ok for starters. The groups pictured are right at 5/8 of an inch. I think some handloads and a Jewell trigger are in order. I didnt have much loaded ammo on hand for most of my go to guns but after reading strut's post on his 375 I had a hankering to shoot mine. I took this rifle( Sako M75 Stainless Synthetic) to Canada last year as a back up and in the first two pics these were groups that were shot just prior to leaving. I tend to shoot 5 shot groups for accuacy testing but in my 375's and 416 I think 3 shots are enough and another... This is the group I shot today with the 375 H&H,after nearly a year and 3600 miles....the first 2 shots went in the bottom hole and I threw the 3rd shot ....pooey I havent been able to shot much lately so I really enjoyed getting out and burning some powder today
Strut10
Re: I finally made it to the range...... Nice lookin work from the .375!! Now.....let's see some 5-shot groups. Is your Sako really that spiteful to shoot?? What's it weigh, scope & all?? I've found, after the initial "getting used to" that my .375 is not too horrible at all. What grain bullets were those?? doubleA
Re: I finally made it to the range...... Strut.... The M75 with a Zeiss 3x12x56 30mm tube weighs in at 9 lbs and is a pleasure to shoot, the recoil is very managable. I know the more shots ya shoot in a group the better but I do believe that Sako has a 5 shot 1" or better guarantee so I trust them on that I have settled on a load consisting of a 270 gr Barnes Tripple Shock with 70. 5 grains of IMR-4064 @ 2745 fps for an "do all" load. As you can see it's pretty consistant and good enough for the critters I hunt.
Strut10
Re: I finally made it to the range...... Looks like it's working well, to me. I'm still in the early stages of load development. All I've tried this far is the 250 gr. Sierra. I know the TSX Barnes shoots exceptionally well in some of my other stuff. But them dang .375's get expensive when you're throwing 10 or so of them downrange a day. I do have a box of 260 gr. Accubonds. But, for the time being, I don't need a premium type bullet. So, I think next try will be 300 gr. Sierras.
AJ
Re: I finally made it to the range...... Very nice! Goo shooting to boot. Although its way more accurate then necessary from a dangerous game gun, it does install confidence.
