Man we need rain....

I know you all are probably sick of hearing about this but we are dry in a bad way.

Over the past month NE Oklahoma has had several scattered showers, my area has had none. We havent had a rain heavy enough to even wet the ground in months and months. Combine that with well over 20 days of 100+ deg temps and eveything is in a bad way.

I have trees dieing. Ive given up on my plants. I cant water nearly enough and quite literally my ground is dust. I know part of Kansas, Texas, and most of Oklahoma is in the same situation.

Gov. Henry has put the burn ban back up for Various Parts of Oklahoma and I look for that to go state wide. Our grass sounds like walking on egg shells. Local cities are water rationing. Its a mess.

I know it may sound trivial to a lot of people but when youre spending some alone time with God throw in some of your friends to the south. We need the moisture very, very badly.

And everyone that lives out down south, wash your cars, leave the windows down, and carry out whatever power tools you have and "forget" them on the porch... grin.gif

Will certainly pray for some rain for you guys. And I will see about leaving the windows down on my freshly washed truck for ya too. grin.gifgrin.gif

Our river is so low that we had to take the chainsaw this weekend to get thru certain spots. crazy.gif

Re: Man we need rain....

Here ya go Jeramie........try what these folks did. wink.gifgrin.gif They SAID it worked. LOL:

KATHMANDU (Reuters) - Dozens of Nepali women stripped naked and plowed their fields in west Nepal, hoping to appease the gods and get some much needed rain, a newspaper report said Sunday.

About 50 women in two villages in Kapilvastu district, 120 miles west of Kathmandu, resorted to the desperate move at night Friday as days of prayers and Hindu ceremonies failed to bring rains for the parched paddy crop, it said.

"This is our last weapon, we used it, and there was light rainfall," Nepali daily Rajdhani quoted one of the women as saying.

Although there is no clear religious basis for the practice, some locals believe such a move could appease the rain gods.

Officials said there was insufficient rain during the June-September monsoon season this year and vast stretches of land along the southern plains, Nepal's bread basket, were parched.

My grandparents have a farm that I work on in south central South Dakota and it is extremely dry. They had about a month of 100+ temps and no rain. They finally got a little shower a couple weeks ago but it wont help. They cut silage 3 weeks ago and usually wait until after labor day. Most of thier corn is junk. It is pretty bad out there. They have had a few fires also.

havent had much rain here in montana either. grass is really dry, good thing we havent had much for lightning storms lately, or there would probly be nothin left of the ranch. you hear all about the wildfires in california but there were some in our part of montana just as big and bigger, but not much about them in the news, lol.

Re: Man we need rain....

We got roughly 2"! It came so fast it didnt really soak but ill take it however we can get it. They also reported 80mph winds around the house. It trashed a lot, mainly trees.

The rain is a blessing regardless. At this point people were willing to see trees go for the moisture! We actually had puddles in our drive and the creek went from almost bone dry to a couple of feet from all the run off! Thank you God.
