New binocs

Well, I went ahead and splurged on a good pair of binocs. I think I will be in the doghouse for a little while, but I hope it is worth it. I ordered a pair of Leica Geovids last week and they should be in later this week. I have been saving up for them and hope they will last me a long time. I was debating between them and the Sworovski El's, the built in range finder is what sold me on the Leicas. It was a lot of money to spend on glass and my wife thinks I am retarded for spending so much on a pair of binoculars. Hopefully I will be happy with my buy many years down the road. The best price I could find ($1895) was at a local Gun Supply Co. that is in my hometown. I know it doesn't matter to many of you, but I just wanted to get a little positive feedback to boost my moral. The wife is making me second guess my purchase. Anyway, I will let you all know how they perform in the field once I get them in.

Happy Hunting,

Trent

Re: New binocs

Trent I always believe in you get what you pay for. You just purchased some awesome glass & you'll never want to buy anything else.

I have a couple of friends who work at the hardware store here in town & I've been able to use Zeiss, Swarovski, Kahles & a few other name brand things. The european stuff blows regular scopes & binos out of the water. You'll get alot of enjoyment out of your binoculars & I guarantee you that you'll be able to sit in your stand until the last minute of legal shooting time good weather, bad weather it doesn't matter you'll be there without any problems with Leicas.

I have a pair of Nikons 10x42 but I went ahead & bought a pair of Kahles 10x42 wing cups year before last & they are incredible in low light.

Re: New binocs

I'm guessing your questioning yourself for spending that kind of money? I personally would never spend almost $2000 on a pair of bino's. How clear and or bright can they be for hunting purposes?

For $2k, you could have bought a real nice rifle and topped it with good glass and had money left over to take your wife out for dinner! wink.gif

To each their own...I'm sure they will be great bino's and you'll be proud to wear 'em.

Thanks for the perspective snapper, what's done is done, not exactly the "positive feedback to boost the moral" I was looking for. tongue.gif Thanks anyway buddy, can't knock a man for saying it how it is.

Re: New binocs

Trent, I believe that you made a purchase that many people would if they had the money to spend.

Buying something that has great quality is ussually never cheap.

You probably should get a Bino Harness just to protect your investment.

BTW...If you do lose them let me know where you were hunting...LOL

Re: New binocs

Trent, I think you made a great choice in the Leicas, that is money well spent. I would consider them as an investment of sorts, If properly taken care of they will last a few lifetimes and can and should be handed down.

My wife and I have the same interests and it has cost me over the years, just last week the hunting fairy gave her a new set of Swaro 10x42 EL's and a Swaro 6x18x50 scope for one of her deer rifles. It's actually kinda of a bribe as I am trying to talk her into going with me to Saskatchewan this fall for whitetails. grin.gif... grin.gif
