Guest switchback
Well yesterday afternoon I was working with my broadheads and set one on the floor. As I stood up I forgot that the head was laying on the floor and step on it. It made about an inch long and a 1/2inch deep cut. It started pouring blood. I had to cleen it out and it hurt so bad. About an hour later it stoped bleeding. I opened it up to see how deep it was and I saw all kinds of weird looking things that I no that I should not have seen. So right now i have a butterfly on it and a big ol bandaid. I cant walk on it because it might open back up. I hope i can walk on it a little in the morning cause I gotta go to school. And I really hope it gets a little better by this weekend cause im headed up to kentucky to scout out a few farms and hang some stands. So every body be careful while you are working with you broadheads. I learned the hard and painful way. I just hope and pray that it doesnt get infected. Be Safe out there
buckee
Re: Be careful with you Broadheads It sounds like it's a serious enough cut, that you should go see a doctor. get some stitches, and make sure your tetanus shot is up to date. It sure beats sitting around and seeing what happens, because then, it will be too late. And, thanks for the safety warning. It's too bad you had to learn the hard way for sure. VTbowman
Re: Be careful with you Broadheads I think you need to get that checked by a Doc now. You may of gone deep enough to cut tendens or worse. I dont think your stand hanging trip is gonna happen nor school tommorow. At least I know it wont heal in that time for sure... Good Luck. Guest switchback
Re: Be careful with you Broadheads No it didnt go deep enough to cut tendons. Im takin really good care of it. It has been cleaned very good. Im tellin you the cleaning part was more painful than the broadhead goin in. But i guess that is nessasary if you dont want it to get inifected. Im really glad that I didnt cut and tendons or anything. I guess im lucky so far. I am going to be keepin a close i on it for the next two weeks. I will update you tommarow afternoon and let you no how im doin.

mathews4life
Re: Be careful with you Broadheads 1/2" cut is a deep cut, especially on the bottom of your foot. Your foot is somethin you use every day and if its not stiched its goin to take a long time to heal(continuous pulling on the skin when you walk). Its good that your keeping it clean, but just the slightest little bacteria gets in it and it your in big trouble. I'd seriously consider gettin it checked and maybe gettin a few stiches. Just because you dont see tendons doesnt mean it doesn't need to be stiched lol!! If it does get infected and closes up your goin to wish you had got it stiched up.....JMO....good luck and dont hesitate to go c a doc
Guest switchback
Re: Be careful with you Broadheads No the broadhead didnot have any rust on it was brand new, but you no im sure it still had bacteria on it.
WIDeer4Life
Re: Be careful with you Broadheads if it really is that deep of a cut you definately need stitches. Maybe youre exaggerating a little bit? Thats a seriously bad cut if its really that long and that deep.
mathews4life
Re: Be careful with you Broadheads yup..thats what i'm sayin....1/2" cut is deep....and if you wait to long they wont be able to stitch it!
Switchback29A1
Re: Be careful with you Broadheads You should be fine....i broke a beer bottle with my bear foot when i was in middle school, stuck a piece in their about 2 inches. Just stuck it in warm water, cut the dead skin and pulled it out. Cleaned it everyday and then put a big gause pad under it to walk.

That could get much worse then a sore foot or a tiny spot from a needle. You better get that taken care of!
wtnhunt
Re: Be careful with you Broadheads Ouch. That hurt me reading that, would also agree about going to see a doctor if it is still opened up or if the blades were not comepltely clean. Can never be too careful with sharp objects. Have laid my fingers open a few times with broadheads, but never stepped on one.

Turkeygirl
Re: Be careful with you Broadheads Ouch! Glad you got it to stop bleeding, but I agree with the others, get it checked out. You may be fine now, but in a few days or week, things may not be so good.

You don't want to mess around with that kind of a laceration on your foot. [/ QUOTE ] I've been in the safety and health profession for 8 years. I strongly urge you to get stitches. In my professional opinion, EVERY cut that is 1 inch long, and 1/2 inch deep needs stitches. It will take a very long time to heal without something there to keep it closed. Frequent pressure, twisting, weight on it... it will just keep cracking open unless you get stitches.
sskybnd
Re: Be careful with you Broadheads atleast go and get your shot, and get them to look at it, you might think your doing ok but you never know what might be going on in there, for what the inside of your foot looks like i know, white tendens , younger brother steped a 10lb catfish head and the stinger went right through his foot , i watched as the doc cut it out, so id say if you seen them , than you should see the doc
Guest switchback
Re: Be careful with you Broadheads Ya well maybe it wasnt 1/2" deep. But it was close. Maybe 3/8, or something I dont no. My step mom is a doc assis. And she took care of it. It has not opened up at all. IT is really healing from the inside out. Which is kinda weird. I clean it alot. but it is really sore. She said I might need stitches if the butterfly didnt work. But it did. Im thinkin since the butterfly held it shut it might not be as deep as I thought. Which is good.
