superguide
What's a good time for a 15 year old in the 40 yards at football camp-just curious.
Tominator
Re: 40 Yard Time Good time would be sub 5. Anywhere from 4.5 on up to 5 is pretty good for that age. Anything below that, call a scout, cuz he can fly.

superguide
Re: 40 Yard Time Well you can time me with a calendar lol so I won't speculate on Tominator. I was just curious -our highschool is starting up football so was wondering how the kids were stacking up speeedwise.

slughunter
Re: 40 Yard Time im going to be a sophmore this year, but my freshman year I could do the 20 in 2.4 so about 4.5-5.5 is pretty good. -shane

lil hunter
Re: 40 Yard Time I'm 15 right now but SLOW. I'm gettin down to about a 5.6 now(well, over the summer, i honestly think i'm a little faster now) I'd say average, for the faster person positions, is about 4.9-5.1 Under 5 is good for any age though, in my opinion. PAbowhunter4life
Re: 40 Yard Time I ran a constant 4.7 throughout my "glory days", but that isn't too bad for a 6' 235 pound kid. That being said, we had a couple 4.2-.4.4er's on our team, and I never had any issues running them down once the adrenaline got going. At any rate, in all honesty, anything under 5 seconds is considered "good speed" so to speak as far as high school ball goes, so provided you can stay under 5, you'll be just fine. Granted, 4.5-4.7 will open more eyes, but good old fahioned skill can always make up for lack of speed
superguide
Re: 40 Yard Time Well I thought superguide jr's time seemed a bit slow until he told me it was 40 metres not 40 yards they ran-he's sub 5 in the 40 yards if you do the math lol. hunterfisherman
Re: 40 Yard Time At one point I ran a 4.6 40 but now it would be more like a 4 minute 6 second 40. I went from being a race horse to a pack mule.

[/ QUOTE ] 4 FLAT?????? Are you 100% sure? lol Anything 4.2 and under is considered world class speed and there are very few people in the world that can do that lol Consider thet Deion Sanders is considered the fastest man to ever play football and his 40 times was a 4.1 something. hoosierhunter
Re: 40 Yard Time Note a forty time with a stop watch is about 2 tenths slower than a machine time. If your school has a machine run on that and If you run a 4.7 or better that is pretty fast....Anyone going below a 4.5 on a machine should be a 100 meter guy in track that runs a mid 10 100 meters......
